Eye care

Everything for your eyes in one place

Most visits start with an eye test. Your optometrist will talk you through what they find and what, if anything, needs to happen next.

Eye tests

A full check of your vision and the health of your eyes, with time to ask questions.

Contact lens clinic

Fittings, teaching appointments and regular aftercare for daily and monthly lenses.

Children's eye care

Tests built around pictures, shapes and games, so a child does not need to read.

Retinal imaging

A detailed photograph of the back of your eye, kept on file to compare at later visits.

Urgent eye appointments

Same-day slots for sudden changes such as red eyes, flashes, floaters or something in the eye.

In-house optical

A dispensing optician helps you choose frames and lenses, then fits and adjusts them here.

Your eye test

An eye test usually takes about 40 minutes, plus time to choose glasses if you need them. Bring what you have.

Book

Book online or by phone. Tell us if you have noticed any change in your vision.

Pre-test checks, 10 minutes

A technician takes a pressure reading and a photograph of the back of your eye.

With your optometrist, 25 minutes

Your history, a vision check, an eye health check and time for your questions.

Next steps, 5 minutes

Your prescription, any advice on when to return and a letter to your doctor if one is needed.

Questions

Do I need a referral?

No. Book directly online or by phone. If we think you need to see an eye doctor, we will arrange the referral.

How often should I have an eye test?

It varies from person to person. Your optometrist will suggest a time to return and we will send a reminder.

What should I bring?

Your current glasses, your contact lens details, a list of your medicines and any letters about your eyes.

Will I have drops in my eyes?

Not usually. If drops are planned we will tell you when you book, so that you can arrange a lift home.

Can I bring a prescription from somewhere else?

Yes. Our dispensing optician can make up a prescription from another practice, as long as it is in date.

What if I have a sudden problem with my sight?

Phone us straight away and we will hold an urgent slot. If we are closed, call your local emergency number.
