Bowtech Brand Guidelines
The premium bow now under JDH Capital.

Two constants: a Bowtech-graphite palette and a premium-sans register. Abstract homage — not a Bowtech product or mark; no bow, cam or logo is reproduced.
The premium bow now under JDH Capital
Bowtech is the 1999 Eugene, Oregon flagship compound-bow maker — today a Pure Archery Group brand owned since 2022 by the private-equity firm JDH Capital (which also, separately, owns Savage Arms).
Bowtech follows PSE as the round’s private-equity node — a premium compound-bow maker whose corporate group was renamed and then bought by a PE firm that holds several outdoor companies. Its answer to a round about who owns the archery world is the PE one: a flagship bow under a private-equity roof.
Its identity is the premium bow now under JDH Capital. The 1999 founding, the Pure Archery Group rename and the JDH Capital ownership are the story here. Premium, PE-owned. The premium bow now under JDH Capital.
(Honest notes, so the founding, the ownership, the making and two corrections are framed accurately, in neutral sporting terms. Bowtech makes premium compound bows as its heroes; we report its language as the brand’s own. On founding: Bowtech was founded in 1999 in Eugene, Oregon, with its founders reported as Kevin Strother and John Strasheim and its first production bow in 2000. On ownership: it is a brand of Pure Archery Group, the corporate name adopted in 2020, which is owned by the private-equity firm JDH Capital Company of Houston, a deal that closed in July 2022. On the making: Oregon for its compound bows, with the group also operating in Montana, Michigan and Ontario, so we do not claim a blanket all-USA. On the corrections: the Savage link is that JDH also, separately, owns Savage Arms, a common owner rather than a parent-subsidiary line, and there was no Bowtech bankruptcy, which is a conflation of the 2022 buyout. Its designs and the Bowtech name are IP we describe but do not reproduce; there is no official brand hex; these tones are an unofficial interpretation.)
Colour
Bowtech lives in a Bowtech graphite. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Bowtech’s identity is premium, JDH-owned and engineered — a Bowtech graphite, an ink, a pale steel, a deep slate, and a paper. The palette leans Bowtech graphite and deep slate: a solid, engineered register that nods to a flagship compound maker rather than a loud logo colour. It signals the premium bow now under JDH Capital — premium, JDH-owned and engineered. The honest caveat: with no official brand hex, these values are an engineered, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is a Bowtech graphite signals a premium, engineered identity. Bowtech’s world is the flagship compound bow. For designers, it is a reminder that a solid graphite and a pale steel can carry a premium, engineered brand — an engineered tone held as an accent, not a product shot. Because a dark hue can flatten small text, keep type dark and even and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: date the founding to 1999 and Eugene; name the Pure Archery Group rename and the JDH Capital ownership; keep the making Oregon-plus by attribution; and correct the Savage and bankruptcy claims.
Typography
The register is a premium sans — premium, JDH-owned, engineered.
Bowtech’s identity carries a premium, JDH-owned spirit — a flagship brand under a private-equity roof. A premium sans captures the mood: clean, solid and exact, the register of a flagship compound maker. Set in a Bowtech-graphite palette, the premium sans feels engineered and confident — exactly the personality Bowtech carries. It behaves like a made, engineered thing rather than a loud logo, mirroring a bolt-dot and a nock-dot. (Bowtech’s real products and the name are things we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a premium-sans brand,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: premium, JDH-owned and engineered.

The archery node
Bowtech stands for the premium bow now under JDH Capital.
Bowtech sits fifth in the round as its private-equity node. A Bowtech-graphite palette, a premium sans and a 1999 founding make one thing — the premium bow now under JDH Capital — the whole identity: premium, JDH-owned and engineered. The 1999 founding is the pitch, the flagship compounds are the substance, and the JDH Capital ownership is the frame. The point is a flagship bow under a private-equity roof, in a round about who owns the archery world.
Put to work, the identity is the brand told straight, the ownership named and two myths corrected. A brand in this spirit would date the founding to 1999 and Eugene, name the Pure Archery Group rename and the JDH Capital ownership, keep the making Oregon-plus by attribution, and correct the Savage and bankruptcy claims. A reader in this spirit would keep the facts right: Bowtech makes premium compound bows; it was founded in 1999 in Eugene, Oregon; it is a Pure Archery Group brand owned by JDH Capital since 2022; and the Savage link is a common owner, not a parent. Bowtech sits after PSE and before Elite. The honest editorial moves are to date the founding, to name the owner, to attribute the making, and to correct the myths.
For designers and brand-builders, Bowtech carries the archery node: name the PE owner precisely — and kill two ownership myths. The lessons: a brand can sit under a private-equity roof with sibling portfolio companies, here Bowtech under JDH Capital; a founding is dated to 1999 in Eugene, Oregon, with founders reported as Kevin Strother and John Strasheim and a first production bow in 2000; an ownership is named, that Bowtech is a brand of Pure Archery Group, the corporate name adopted in 2020, owned by the private-equity firm JDH Capital Company of Houston since a deal that closed in July 2022, with sibling brands Diamond, Excalibur, Black Gold, TightSpot and RipCord; a making is attributed as Oregon for compound bows with group operations in Montana, Michigan and Ontario, so no blanket all-USA; and two myths are corrected, that JDH also, separately, owns Savage Arms as a common owner rather than a parent of Bowtech, and that there was no Bowtech bankruptcy, only the 2022 buyout. It is also a reminder to stay precise: Bowtech is the JDH-Capital-owned premium compound maker of archery — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation, and Bowtech an archery brand, not a firearms one. The hook is that ownership: Bowtech is the premium bow now under JDH Capital, the 1999 Eugene, Oregon flagship compound-bow maker, today a Pure Archery Group brand owned since 2022 by the private-equity firm JDH Capital, which also, separately, owns Savage Arms. Read that way, Bowtech is less a single bow than the premium bow now under JDH Capital: premium, JDH-owned, engineered. The lesson for a brand is that naming the PE owner precisely and killing two ownership myths reinforce the honesty, and dating the founding keeps it earned. Bowtech made the-premium-bow-now-under-JDH-Capital the identity — proof that an honestly-owned flagship can anchor a node.
