Word to PDF Converter
This free Word to PDF converter turns a .docx document into a PDF entirely in your browser — your file is never uploaded to a server. It renders the document page by page (so what you see is what you get), then gives you two ways out: a pixel-accurate Download PDF, or a vector print-to-PDF path with fully selectable, searchable text — the right choice for CVs and anything that gets read by software. No signup, no watermark, no file limits.

Download PDF gives an exact image of each page (best visual fidelity). Print / save as vector PDF uses your browser’s print dialog — choose “Save as PDF” there for selectable, searchable text (best for CVs and forms).
Renders your .docx locally and converts it to PDF — no upload, no server, no watermark. Legacy .doc files must be saved as .docx first (Word: File → Save As).
How to convert Word to PDF
- Drop your
.docxfile onto the upload area — the document renders right on the page so you can check every page before converting. - Click Download PDF for an exact image of each page (best visual fidelity), or
- Click Print / save as vector PDF and choose Save as PDF in your browser’s print dialog for selectable, searchable text.
Legacy .doc files (Word 97–2003) need one extra step first: open them in Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice and save as .docx.
Which download should you use?
| Option | Text | Fidelity | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Download PDF | Image-based (not selectable) | Pixel-exact copy of every page | Sharing something that must look identical everywhere; documents with tricky layouts |
| Print / save as vector PDF | Selectable & searchable | Very close; browser reflows minor details | CVs and job applications (ATS-readable), contracts, anything people will copy text from |
Most converter sites don’t tell you which kind of PDF they produce. We’d rather you pick knowingly — for a resume going into an applicant-tracking system, selectable text matters more than pixel-perfection, so use the print path.
Why convert Word to PDF?
- Layout lock: a PDF looks the same on every device; a .docx reflows depending on fonts and app versions.
- Compatibility: everyone can open a PDF — no Word license needed.
- Professionalism: applications, invoices, and proposals are expected as PDF, and it prevents accidental edits.
Frequently asked questions
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No — that’s the whole point of this tool. Adobe, Smallpdf, iLovePDF, and nearly every “free Word to PDF” site process your document on their servers (typically retaining it for an hour or more). This converter renders and converts entirely on your device, which matters when the document is a contract, a medical letter, or anyone’s personal data.
Will it look exactly like it does in Word?
Very close. The renderer supports standard formatting — fonts, headings, tables, images, columns, headers and footers. Documents with elaborate WordArt, embedded charts, or unusual fonts may differ slightly; the on-page preview shows you exactly what the PDF will contain before you commit.
Why is my downloaded PDF large?
The Download PDF path stores each page as a high-resolution image, so file size grows with page count. If you need a smaller file, use the vector print path (dramatically smaller for text documents), or run the result through our PDF Compressor.
Does it work with Google Docs files?
Yes — in Google Docs use File → Download → Microsoft Word (.docx), then convert that file here. (Google Docs can also export PDF directly, but converting locally lets you avoid uploading sensitive documents to begin with.)
How many documents can I convert?
As many as you like. Most converter sites cap free users at a couple of conversions per day and sell “unlimited” as a subscription — there’s no quota here because there’s no server doing the work. Files convert one at a time, each in seconds.
Is it free? Any limits?
Completely free — no signup, no watermarks, no daily quota, no file-size cap. Long documents just take a few extra seconds to render on your device.
