Height of a capital H in the Classic round style with the 10 mm margin the tool leaves on every side, worked out by the tool. The widest letter, W, sets the scale so every letter in a set matches. Other styles and puffiness change these sizes a little; the tool shows the exact figure above the buttons.
Which style to pick
| Style | Looks like | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Classic round | Even, rounded, easy to read | Classrooms, signs, colouring |
| Balloon | Strokes swell in the middle | Parties and birthday banners |
| Chunky | Wider and heavier, small gaps | Short words and titles |
| Tall and thin | Narrow, more letters fit across | Long names |
| Slanted | Leans forward | Sports and action titles |
| Street | Slanted, tilted and bouncing | Graffiti-style words |
The Puffiness slider makes any style fatter or thinner. Very puffy letters close up their small inner gaps, which is part of the look.
Printing tips
- Use thicker card for letters you will cut out and pin up.
- Print a single test page before you print the whole alphabet.
- Print at 100% or Actual size. Fit-to-page shrinks the sheet a little.
- A thicker outline is easier for young children to colour inside.
- To save ink, keep the outline-only fill and print in draft quality.
- For one long banner, print one letter per page and tape or string the sheets together.
Where bubble letters come from
The rounded style grew out of New York graffiti. Michael Marrow, who wrote as Phase 2, first used an early version in late 1972, and the style is also called softies. Source: Wikipedia: Phase 2 (artist), read 6 November 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Are these bubble letters free to print?
Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on pages. Print them for class, for a party or for something you sell.
Is it a font?
No. It makes finished sheets, not a font to install. The letters are drawn as vector outlines, so they stay sharp at any size. For bubble text you can paste into a social profile, use our Bubble Text Generator.
How do I print one letter on each page?
Choose A to Z, one per page. You get a 26-page PDF, one big letter on each sheet. Choose My own word and 1 big letter on each page to spell a banner.
Can I print just one letter?
Yes. Choose My own word, type the letter, then download. Type it several times for several copies.
How do I make letters an exact size?
Set Letter size to An exact height and type the height of a capital letter in inches, cm or mm. Print at 100% or Actual size with fit-to-page off, then check the 50 mm bar printed on the sheet with a ruler.
Why do my letters come out smaller than I set?
Your printer may be scaling the page. Turn off fit-to-page, or pick 100% or Actual size in the print window. If the letter is too big for the page, the tool says so and gives the largest size that fits.
How do I keep a whole word together?
Choose My own word, then Keep my words together on one page. The word grows to fill the page. Letter spacing below zero makes the letters overlap, as in bubble graffiti.
Does it do lowercase and numbers?
Yes: capitals, lowercase, numbers 0 to 9, common accented letters such as é, ñ and ü, and basic punctuation such as ! ? & and #. There is a heart too: paste ♥ into your word.
Can I use these with a cutting machine?
Yes. Download the SVG of a page. Tick Lines only if you want no white inside the letters.
How do I make bubble letters by hand?
Trace a thin letter in pencil, draw a rounded line a little way out all round it, soften the corners, then rub out the pencil. Tracing a few sheets from this page is a good way to learn the shapes.
Can I change the colour?
Yes. Choose one colour, a different colour per letter, polka dots or stripes, and set the outline colour and width. A drop shadow or 3D block adds depth.
Is anything uploaded?
No. All the drawing happens in your browser, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
