Frequently asked questions

What is a halftone effect?

Halftone recreates an image with dots of different sizes — darker areas get bigger dots. It's how newspapers and comics were printed, and it's a popular retro design effect.

What does CMYK mode do?

It splits the image into cyan, magenta, yellow and black dot screens at classic printing angles and overlays them, like a magnified colour print.

Can I get a transparent background?

In one-colour mode, tick Transparent background to download only the dots — great for printing on coloured T-shirts or layering in design apps.

How do I get a stronger effect?

Increase the dot size and contrast. Smaller dots keep more detail.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser.
