Frequently asked questions

How do I make a pie chart?

Type each category and its value on a separate line, separated by a comma (or paste two columns from a spreadsheet). The chart and percentages update instantly.

Do my values need to add up to 100?

No. Enter any numbers — counts, money or percentages — and each slice's share of the total is calculated for you.

Pie or doughnut?

They show the same thing. Doughnut charts look more modern and leave room in the middle; pie charts are more familiar.

How many slices should a pie chart have?

Up to about six slices stays readable. Group small categories into “Other”, or use a bar chart for many categories.

Can I paste data from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Select the cells (including the header row), copy, and paste into the data box — the columns are detected automatically. You can also import a .csv file.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The chart is drawn in your browser and your numbers never leave your device.
