Frequently asked questions

How do I make a background transparent?

Drop the image in and click the background. Pixels close to that colour become transparent; raise Tolerance to include more shades and Edge softness to smooth the outline. Download as PNG to keep the transparency.

Why does part of my subject disappear?

If the subject contains the same colour as the background, choose “Only the area connected to where I click” and lower Tolerance — only background pixels touching your click are removed.

Does it work on photos with busy backgrounds?

This tool removes plain or similar-coloured backgrounds. Photos of people or scenes with detailed backgrounds need an AI background remover.

Why PNG?

JPG can't store transparency. PNG keeps the transparent areas, so the image sits cleanly on any background.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, so your images never leave your device.
