Thanksgiving Banner
Make a Thanksgiving banner with your own words. Start from HAPPY THANKSGIVING, GIVE THANKS, GRATEFUL, THANKFUL, GATHER, or type anything, such as a family name. Each letter gets its own flag, one per US Letter or A4 page, in fall colours: harvest stripes, a field of our own leaves, or both alternating, with our own leaf, pumpkin, wheat and acorn end flags. Apostrophes and punctuation stay with their letter, so GRANDMA’S TABLE prints the right way round. Or print the words as one long strip, tiled across pages with a glue overlap. Runs in your browser with our own code: your words never leave your device, and nothing is saved. The leaf, pumpkin, wheat and acorn drawings, the stripes and leaf fields are our own. Letters use Anton or Pacifico (SIL Open Font Licence, loaded from jsDelivr) or Helvetica; if a font cannot load, a system font stands in. Print at 100% (Actual size) on card stock.
How to make a Thanksgiving banner

- Cut the flags out, fold the tabs over a string and hang them in order.

How to hang it

Can I write my own words?
Yes. Type any words: a family name, THANKFUL or a short greeting. Each letter, number or symbol gets a flag; spaces become a leaf flag, a blank flag or a gap on the string, as you choose.
What happens to apostrophes?
Every apostrophe prints as the closing mark ’, the right way round, and rides on the flag of the letter before it: GRANDMA’S puts ’ on the A. A straight ' or a backwards ‘ typed by mistake is turned the right way round, and no flag carries a lone mark.
How big is each flag?
One flag fills a page: 19.6 × 24.4 cm (7.71 × 9.62 in) below the fold-over tab on US Letter, 19 × 26.2 cm on A4, with 10 mm margins. The tab is 15 mm deep.
What patterns are there?
Harvest stripes (accent bands on a light flag with the letter on a disc), a leaf field (our own leaves on the deep colour), both alternating, or solid colours in turn. Stripes and leaves are drawn as shapes inside the flag, so nothing spills past the cut line.
How does the long strip banner work?
Choose One long strip: the words are set in one band 18.4 cm high on US Letter (17.8 cm on A4) with stripes along the top and bottom, split across landscape pages. Each page repeats the last 15 mm of the one before, marked with a dashed line.
How much string do I need?
The tool adds it up: every flag’s width, 25 mm between flags and 50 cm free at each end to tie. It shows the total under the preview.
When is Thanksgiving this year?
In the United States it is the fourth Thursday of November: Thursday, November 26, 2026, then Thursday, November 25, 2027.
Can kids colour it in?
Yes. Choose Black and white: the flags print as outlines with the stripes, leaves and drawings left white to colour.
Can I use the banner at an event or sell prints?
Yes. The designs are our own drawings: you may use them and anything you make with them, including things you sell, with no credit needed.
Are my words uploaded?
No. The flags, the PDF and the PNGs are made in your browser and nothing is saved.
