Soccer Lineup Template
Make a printable soccer lineup sheet for match day. Pick 11 v 11, 9 v 9, 7 v 7 or 5 v 5 and one of 19 formations: the players stand in their positions on our own drawn pitch, with numbers in the shirts and names underneath. Type your squad once, one player per line, and set the game length, halves or quarters and how often you change players. The tool works out a rotation: who plays in each block, in which position, who sits out, and how many minutes each player gets, and it tells you when the minutes cannot come out even and which setting would make them equal. The PDF has the lineup sheet with a notes box, the rotation grid and a pitch for each change. Or print a blank template to fill in by hand. US Letter or A4, colour or black and white. Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Nothing to upload. Sheets are made in your browser.

How to make a soccer lineup sheet
- Choose the players a side and a formation.
- Type the team name and, if you like, the opponent, date and coach.
- Type your players, one per line, number first. Put the keeper first if one player stays in goal.
- Set the game length, halves or quarters, and the changes per half or quarter.
- Check the minutes under the preview, then download the PDF and print at 100% (Actual size).
What you can use it for
- A match-day sheet for the coach and the assistant
- Fair playing time in a youth league
- A lineup to show the team before kickoff
- A blank formation sheet for a coaching clipboard
- Planning substitutions for a tournament day

Positions are placed by the tool: the keeper, then each line from the back, spread across the width. GK is the goalkeeper; L, C and R mean left, centre and right; B is a back, WB a wing-back, M a midfielder, DM a holding and AM an attacking midfielder, W a winger, S and ST a striker.
How the rotation works
| Format | Squad | Game | Changes per half or quarter | Each block | Outfield minutes | Equal minutes? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 v 5 | 9 | 40 min, 2 halves | 2 | 10 min | all 20 min | yes |
| 7 v 7 | 9 | 50 min, 2 halves | 2 | 12.5 min | all 37.5 min | yes |
| 7 v 7 | 10 | 50 min, 2 halves | 2 | 12.5 min | 6 play 37.5, 3 play 25 | yes, with 3 changes |
| 9 v 9 | 12 | 60 min, 2 halves | 2 | 15 min | 10 play 45, 1 play 30 | not with 1 to 6 changes |
| 9 v 9 | 13 | 60 min, 2 halves | 3 | 10 min | all 40 min | yes |
| 11 v 11 | 16 | 90 min, 2 halves | 3 | 15 min | all 60 min | yes |
| 11 v 11 | 15 | 90 min, 2 halves | 3 | 15 min | 4 play 75, 10 play 60 | not with 1 to 6 changes |
Worked out by the tool with one keeper in goal all game. The places on the field are shared in turn, so no player gets more than one block more than another, and the minutes always add up to the players on the field times the game length.

What is a soccer lineup template?
A sheet that shows who starts and where: the formation drawn on a pitch with each player’s number and name, plus the substitutes. This one adds a rotation grid that shows who plays in every part of the game.
Which formations can I pick?
19 in total: seven for 11 v 11, five for 9 v 9, four for 7 v 7 and three for 5 v 5. The numbers count the players from the back, so 2-3-1 means two defenders, three midfielders and one forward, plus the keeper.
Can every child get equal minutes?
Often, yes. The tool shares the places on the field in turn, so no player ever gets more than one block more than another. When the numbers allow, everyone gets exactly the same minutes; when they do not, it says how many get more and which number of changes would make it equal.
Why are the minutes not always equal?
Places on the field times blocks must divide evenly by the number of players sharing them. With one keeper all game, 10 outfield places over four blocks make 40 places. 14 outfield players cannot share 40 evenly, so 12 play three blocks and 2 play two. A different number of changes per half or quarter, or one player more or fewer, often makes it even; the tool tells you when it does.
What happens to the goalkeeper?
Choose First player in goal all game to keep one keeper for the whole game; everyone else shares the outfield places. Or choose Everyone takes a turn and the keeper’s place rotates like the rest.
Do players keep their positions?
Where possible, yes: a player who stays on keeps the same position, and the players coming on fill the places that are free. Untick the box to let positions follow the rotation order instead.
Can I print a blank lineup sheet?
Yes. Tick Blank template: the pitch shows the positions for your formation with empty name tags, and the lineup and substitute lists are lines to write on.
Is the pitch drawn to scale?
The markings follow Law 1 of the Laws of the Game on a 105 × 68 m pitch. Pitches for younger age groups are smaller; the drawing shows positions, not the size of your field.
Can I use the sheets for my club or sell them?
Yes. The designs are our own drawings: you may use them and anything you make with them, including things you sell, with no credit needed.
Are player names uploaded?
No. The sheets and the PDF are made in your browser and nothing is saved.
