How do I convert a .doc file to PDF?
Drop the .doc file in and click “Convert to PDF”. It's converted with LibreOffice and the PDF downloads automatically.
What's the difference between DOC and DOCX?
.doc is the binary format used by Word 97–2003; .docx is the newer XML format used since Word 2007. Both are supported here. For .docx you can also use Word to PDF, which works without uploading.
Will the layout be preserved?
LibreOffice reproduces most documents closely, including tables, images, headers and footers. Fonts that aren't installed on the server are replaced with metric-compatible equivalents (for example Carlito for Calibri), so line breaks stay the same.
Is the PDF text selectable?
Yes — the PDF contains real, searchable text.
Why is my document uploaded?
Old .doc files need a full office suite to convert accurately, which can't run in a browser. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, converted in memory and deleted immediately.
Is there a size limit?
Up to 30 MB per file, with an hourly limit per visitor to keep the service fast.
