Pumpkin Template
Print a pumpkin template for free. Choose a round, a tall or a short-and-wide pumpkin, and make it four ways: one outline with the stem on, to colour and cut; pumpkin pieces (the body, a stem, a leaf and a curly vine) to cut from coloured card and glue together; a carving stencil to tape onto a real pumpkin; or jack-o’-lantern face pieces only. There are five faces of our own: classic, happy, spooky, cute and stitched. Each face is a set of separate pieces (eyes, nose and mouth), and on the stencil the tool measures the narrowest strip of pumpkin left between two holes. Set the height from 1.6 in to a full page, or a poster up to 36 in tiled over several sheets, and fill the sheet with small pumpkins for a class. Type names to print one on each pumpkin. Print the outline to colour, or a colour version in orange, white, green or a mix. A check square shows the print is true size. Download a PDF on US Letter or A4, an SVG cut file or a PNG. | 4 in (10.2 cm) | 10.5 cm | 8.2 cm | 12.9 cm | 2 | 2 | 1 |
| 5 in (12.7 cm) | 13.1 cm | 10.2 cm | 16.1 cm | 1 | 2 | 1 |
| 6 in (15.2 cm) | 15.7 cm | 12.2 cm | 19.4 cm | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| 7 in (17.8 cm) | 18.3 cm | 14.3 cm | 22.6 cm | 1 | 1 | 2 |
Worked out by the tool with 4 mm gaps and the check square on the sheet; the height runs from the bottom of the pumpkin to the tip of the stem. A 12 in pumpkin is tiled over 4 US Letter or 4 A4 sheets, an 18 in pumpkin over 6 or 6.
Jack-o’-lantern faces
| Face | Eyes | Nose | Mouth pieces | Pieces in all | Narrowest bridge on a 6 in stencil |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Classic | 2 | 1 | 1 | 4 | 14 mm |
| Happy | 2 | 1 | 1 | 4 | 16 mm |
| Spooky | 2 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 22 mm |
| Cute | 2 | 1 | 1 | 4 | 17 mm |
| Stitched | 2 | 1 | 4 | 7 | 4 mm |
Counted by the tool. The narrowest bridge is the smallest gap between two holes, or between a hole and the edge of the pumpkin; it grows in step with the height. Every face is our own drawing.

Frequently asked questions
What can I make with it?
Four things: a pumpkin outline in one piece, a pumpkin in pieces (body, stem, leaf and a curly vine) to glue together, a carving stencil with the face shapes to cut out, or jack-o’-lantern face pieces on their own.
How many face pieces are there?
The classic, happy and cute faces have 4 pieces (two eyes, a nose and a mouth), the spooky face has 3 (no nose) and the stitched face has 7 (two eyes, a nose and a mouth in 4 parts). The table on this page lists them.
How do I use the carving stencil?
Cut round the paper pumpkin and tape it to your pumpkin. Prick holes along the edge of every black shape with a pin or poking tool, take the paper off and carve along the dots. An adult should do the carving.
What is a bridge?
A strip of pumpkin left between two holes, or between a hole and the edge. Thin bridges break, so the tool works out the narrowest one on your stencil and shows it in the info line and on the steps page.
What sizes can I print?
Pumpkins from 1.6 in tall up to a full page (7 in on US Letter), and posters up to 36 in tiled over several sheets. The tables on this page show the widths and how many fit on a sheet.
How do I check the print is the right size?
Measure the check square on the first sheet: it must be exactly 1 in (or 2 cm with cm units) on each side. If it is smaller, print again at 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page.
Can I use it with a Cricut or Silhouette?
Yes. Download the SVG: it is true size in millimetres, with the cut lines on their own layer.
Can I sell things I make with this pumpkin?
The designs are our own drawings: you may use them and anything you make with them, including things you sell, with no credit needed.
