100% private — runs in your browser

Your browser decodes the audio and an open-source MP3 encoder (LAME, via lamejs) converts it on your device — nothing is uploaded. Works with MP4, MOV, M4A, WebM, MKV, WAV, OGG and more; very long files need plenty of memory, so trim if your browser struggles.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert MP4 to MP3?

Drop the MP4 in, choose a quality and click Convert to MP3. When it's finished, preview the audio and click Download MP3.

Can I convert other video formats?

Yes — MOV, M4V, WebM and MKV work too, as long as your browser can decode the audio track (Chrome and Edge support the most formats).

Which quality should I choose?

192 kbps sounds excellent for music and keeps files small; 320 kbps is the highest MP3 quality. For podcasts and speech, 96–128 kbps in mono is plenty.

Can I convert just part of the file?

Yes — set a start and end time (minutes:seconds) before converting. Fade in and out smooths the cut edges.

Is there a file size limit?

There's no upload limit because nothing is uploaded, but the whole file is decoded in your browser's memory. Files up to a few hundred MB work well on most computers; for very long recordings, convert in parts.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Decoding and MP3 encoding both happen on your device.

Can I convert YouTube videos?

This tool converts files on your device. Only download and convert videos you own or have permission to use.
