Ladybug Template
Print a ladybug template for free. You get a round body with a head and two antennae, and two wings that sit on top, or the whole ladybug as one piece. Choose how many spots go on each wing, from 0 to 10, so every ladybug can show a sum: 3 spots on the left and 4 on the right make 3 + 4 = 7. The spots are placed so none touch each other or the edge. Add loose spots to cut out and glue on while counting, and holes for a paper fastener so the wings open and close. Set the width from 2 in to a full page, or a poster up to 36 in tiled over several sheets, and fill the sheet for a class set. Print the outline to colour, or a red and black version. A check square shows the print is true size. Download a PDF on US Letter or A4, an SVG cut file or a PNG. No sign-up, no watermark.

Runs in your browser with our own code, and nothing is saved. The ladybug is our own drawing. The spots are placed so none touch each other or the edge. The PDF is true size: print at 100% (Actual size) and check the square.

Frequently asked questions
How many spots can a ladybug have?
On this template you choose 0 to 10 spots on each wing, so up to 20 in all. The step list and the PDF title show the sum, for example 3 + 4 = 7.
How do I use it for counting?
Print a set with different spot numbers and match each ladybug to a number card, or tick “Loose spots” and glue the right number on each wing. Two wings make an addition fact.
How do the wings open?
Tick the paper-fastener holes: punch the small circle at the top of each wing and the body, then push a paper fastener through all three so the wings swing open.
How big are the spots?
Spots get smaller as the count goes up (never bigger), so every count fits on a wing without spots touching. The table on this page lists the spot size for each count.
Is there a colour version?
Yes: tick “Print in colour” for red wings with black spots and a black body and head. Leave it unticked for an outline to colour in.
How do I check the print is the right size?
Measure the check square on the first sheet: it must be exactly 1 in (or 2 cm with cm units) on each side. If it is smaller, print again at 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page.
Can I use it with a Cricut or Silhouette?
Yes. Download the SVG: it is true size in millimetres, with the cut lines on their own layer.
Can I sell things I make with this ladybug?
The designs are our own drawings: you may use them and anything you make with them, including things you sell, with no credit needed.
