A video call screen has to keep people, controls and side information in balance during a live conversation. Our examples show participant tiles, an active-speaker highlight, mute, camera, share and leave controls and a side panel, designed for web and mobile in eight visual styles, each in light and dark themes. Every example is an original design that comes with its HTML code and a DESIGN.md of colour, type and spacing tokens, in light and dark. Free to use and adapt.

Message a teammate and start a call
Place them in a single bar at the bottom of the screen, with microphone and camera first, then sharing and secondary tools, and Leave at the end. Keep the order stable so people build muscle memory. On mobile, hide less-used tools in a More menu.
Auto-hiding gives more room to video, but controls must reappear instantly on mouse movement, tap or keyboard focus. Keep the mute state visible even when the bar is hidden, as it is the status people check most often during a call.
Use a grid that adapts to the number of people and switch to a speaker view for presentations or larger meetings. Paginate or scroll beyond a sensible number of tiles, and let people pin a specific participant to keep them visible.
