An AI chat interface lets people ask questions in plain language and follow the answers back to their sources. Our screens show a conversation history sidebar, user and assistant messages with cited sources, a typing indicator and a composer, designed for web and mobile in eight visual styles, each with light and dark versions plus HTML and design tokens. Every example is an original design that comes with its HTML code and a DESIGN.md of colour, type and spacing tokens, in light and dark. Free to use and adapt.

Clear separation between user and assistant turns, readable long-form answers with proper formatting, visible sources, controls to stop, retry, copy and give feedback, and a composer that supports multi-line input. A searchable history of past conversations makes the tool useful beyond a single session.
Place small numbered markers next to the claims they support and list the sources below or beside the answer with titles and links. Make citations easy to open and inspect. Clear sourcing helps people judge reliability, which matters because AI answers can be wrong.
Streaming is usually better, because people can start reading immediately rather than waiting for a complete answer. Pair it with a stop button and avoid auto-scrolling once the reader has scrolled up. Show a brief indicator before the first words arrive so the interface never looks frozen.
