Music player UI design examples

A music player's now-playing screen puts the track front and centre with the controls people use most. Our screens show album artwork, track and artist, a scrubber with elapsed and remaining time, transport controls, an up-next queue and lyrics or credits, designed for web and mobile across eight visual styles, light and dark. Every example is an original design that comes with its HTML code and a DESIGN.md of colour, type and spacing tokens, in light and dark. Free to use and adapt.

Music player design tips

Questions

What controls should a music player have?

Play and pause, previous and next, a seek bar with times, shuffle and repeat, volume (on web), like or save, and access to the queue and lyrics.

How should a web music player differ from mobile?

On web, a three-part layout works well: library on the left, now playing in the middle and the queue on the right. On mobile, focus on the artwork and controls, with the queue and lyrics a swipe or tap away.
