A roles and permissions screen lets admins decide who can do what in a workspace. Our examples show a list of roles with member counts and a permission matrix for the selected role, designed for a fictional workspace product on web and mobile in eight visual styles, each with light and dark versions. Every example is an original design that comes with its HTML code and a DESIGN.md of colour, type and spacing tokens, in light and dark. Free to use and adapt.

Put permissions in rows grouped by area, with either one role at a time or roles as columns. Viewing one selected role keeps the screen manageable on smaller displays. Use clear checkboxes or toggles and explain any permission that implies another.
Simple built-in roles such as Owner, Admin, Member and Guest cover many teams. Custom roles suit larger organisations with specific access needs. If you offer them, let admins start by duplicating an existing role rather than building from an empty set.
Prevent removal of the last owner or administrator, and block edits that would strip the current user of permission to manage roles without confirmation. Show a clear warning explaining the consequence, and log every role change in the audit log.
