A stepper shows progress through a short multi-step task such as signing up or opening an account. These examples mark completed, current and upcoming steps in an ordered list with aria-current="step", spell out each state in hidden text, and announce the new step when people press Back or Next. Horizontal on desktop, vertical on phones, in eight styles with light and dark tokens. Every example is an original design that comes with its HTML code and a DESIGN.md of colour, type and spacing tokens, in light and dark. Free to use and adapt.

Only for steps people have already completed, and only if going back is safe. These examples use Back and Next buttons, which keeps the order clear.
Use an ordered list so the position is announced, put aria-current="step" on the current item, and add visually hidden words such as Completed or Not started to the others.
