Sign-in fails more often than it succeeds on the first try, so the error states deserve design. These examples re-render the real sign-in and two-factor screens with their failure states: a wrong password with the attempts left, a temporarily locked account with a reset path, and an expired two-factor code with a resend action, each with an alert and the field at fault marked. Every example is an original design that comes with its HTML code and a DESIGN.md of colour, type and spacing tokens, in light and dark. Free to use and adapt.

A short, time-based pause after several failures slows down guessing without locking people out for good. Tell them how long it lasts.
Explain that the code timed out, keep the input visible and offer to resend or use a backup code.
