Solios Brand Guidelines

Two constants: a solar palette and a minimal sans register. Abstract homage — not the Solios dial or wordmark.
The solar watch
Solios runs a minimalist watch on light.
Solios is a lesson in solar sustainability as the identity. A Canadian brand founded in 2019 in Montreal, it makes minimalist watches powered by a solar panel hidden under the dial.
Its identity is the solar watch. Solios’ Sunseeker and Solar Curve are the watches it is known for — thin, minimal, charging from any light and holding power for a year in the dark. A clean watch that needs no battery changes. Eco-design, worn.
(Honest notes: Solios is a Canadian solar and eco watch brand founded in 2019 in Montreal by Alexandre Desabrais and Samuel Leroux, launched via crowdfunding. Its signature is the solar watch — a minimalist piece with a solar panel under the dial that charges from any light and holds a year’s power in darkness — across the Sunseeker (assembled in Canada) and Solar Curve collections, billed as “Canada’s first solar-powered watch.” On the movement, it is a Japanese solar-quartz (a Citizen/Miyota-family caliber we don’t name, since it isn’t published), in steel cases with eco and vegan straps and no plastic in product or packaging. On its claims, the verified ones are B Corp certification (it markets itself as the world’s first B Corp watch brand) and Rainforest Trust support; we don’t assert “1% for the Planet” or “climate-neutral,” which we couldn’t confirm. It is independent and founder-led. One disambiguation: this is Solios Watches, not the unrelated Solios Corp. There’s no official brand hex — these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
Solios lives in a solar palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Solios’ identity is minimal, warm and eco — a solar amber, an ink, an eco green, a slate, and an off-white. The palette leans solar — the register of sunlight, minimal dials and eco materials. It signals cleanliness and purpose rather than novelty. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a solar palette signals eco minimalism. Solios’ world is a clean, minimal, purposeful object. For designers, it is a reminder that a sustainability promise — solar power, no battery changes, no plastic — can define a minimalist product, and that a solar palette signals that eco intent. Because a solar amber can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: power it with light; keep it minimal; back it with certification; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a minimal sans — clean, geometric, modern.
Solios’ identity carries a clean, geometric, modern spirit — a minimal, eco object. A geometric sans captures the mood: it is precise and current, the register of minimalist design. Set in a solar palette, the minimal sans feels clean and geometric — exactly the personality Solios carries. It is modern rather than ornate, mirroring a minimalist dial. (Solios’ real dial and wordmark are works we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a minimal sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: clean, geometric and modern.

Solar sustainability as identity
Solios stands for the solar watch.
Solios is a lesson in designing an eco promise. A solar palette, a minimal sans and a light-powered movement make solar sustainability the whole brand — clean, minimal, purposeful. The eco promise is the differentiator. The differentiator is a watch that runs on light, needs no battery changes, and backs its claims with certification.
Put to work, the identity is sustainability made concrete. A designer building in this spirit would turn an eco promise into product decisions — a solar movement, no plastic, recognized certification — so the sustainability is verifiable, not just a slogan. The lesson Solios teaches is that a credible eco stance can carry a minimalist brand: solar power plus B Corp certification and reforestation gives it substance, and a clean, minimal design language keeps that promise legible.
For designers and brand-builders, Solios offers a clear takeaway: make the eco promise verifiable. The lessons: power it with light; keep it minimal; back it with certification; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to claim only what is verified: B Corp and Rainforest Trust are the confirmed claims, so we don’t assert “1% for the Planet” — the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. And it is a reminder that movement honesty matters in watches: it is a Japanese solar-quartz caliber we don’t name, since it isn’t published. It is a reminder, too, that a common name needs disambiguating: this is Solios Watches, not Solios Corp. Solios made the solar watch the brand — proof that a verifiable eco promise can be the difference.
