Frequently asked questions

How much can I compress a JPG?

Typical photos shrink 50–80% at Medium quality with little visible difference. Scaling down very large photos (for example from 4000 px to 1920 px) saves even more.

Will compressing a JPG lose quality?

JPG compression is lossy, but at quality 80 the difference is very hard to see. Use the High preset for print work, or Low when the smallest file matters most.

How do I compress a JPG to a specific size?

Tick “Target max file size” and set the size. The tool keeps shrinking each image until it fits under the target.

Does it remove EXIF and GPS data?

Yes — metadata is stripped by default, which also saves space. Tick “Keep EXIF / metadata” if you need to keep it.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Compression runs in your browser, so your images never leave your device.
