Fellow Earthlings Brand Guidelines
Handmade by the ocean.

Two constants: a recycled-acetate palette and a warm handmade register. Abstract homage — not a Fellow Earthlings frame or wordmark.
Handmade by the ocean
Fellow Earthlings hand-makes small-batch, recycled-acetate frames on Prince Edward Island.
Fellow Earthlings is a lesson in the workshop as the identity. A Canadian eyewear house on Prince Edward Island — quite literally in a field by the ocean — it hand-makes small-batch acetate frames to order, and turns its own production offcuts into new frames through a recycled-acetate programme. Each pair is closer to a small piece of art than a mass product.
Its identity is handmade by the ocean. Fellow Earthlings’ hand-finished, made-to-order frames — bold, collectible, recycled — are the work it is known for. Acetate, made by hand at the edge of the sea. A workshop where the making is the brand.
(Honest notes, so the story stays precise. Fellow Earthlings is a Canadian brand founded in 2015 by the husband-and-wife team Christopher and Sydney Seggie, based in Guernsey Cove, Prince Edward Island — not the United States, a common mix-up we correct — and it is independent and founder-run. On making, it is genuinely handmade in-house on PEI, made to order, with a recycled-acetate collection made from the studio’s own production waste; alongside its own line it runs a prototype-development and short-run production workshop for other fashion and eyewear brands. Its runway and commercial collaborations — with Luar’s Raul Lopez, Anna Sui, Adele Mildred and Holt Renfrew — are those partners’ IP, described but never reproduced, and its pieces have been worn by Solange and Doja Cat. A small styling note: the name carries an apostrophe only in its possessive form, and we ignore an unverified “Cayman expansion” claim that appears to be an AI fabrication. Its frames and wordmark are its IP, and there is no official brand hex — these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
Fellow Earthlings lives in a recycled-acetate palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Fellow Earthlings’ identity is warm, earthy and hand-made — a terracotta, an ink, a sage, an amber, and a bone. The palette leans on warm recycled-acetate tones: the register of hand-poured, reclaimed material. It signals craft and reuse over gloss. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these values are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is a warm, mixed palette signals a handmade, recycled identity. Fellow Earthlings’ world is a warm, earthy, hand-made object. For designers, it is a reminder that a warm, slightly mixed palette can carry a brand built on hand-making and reclaimed material — tones that read as poured and cut by hand, no two alike. Because bright tones can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the loud colour live in the discs, palette and band. The takeaways: make it by hand; reclaim the material; keep it small-batch; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a warm handmade — friendly, crafted, characterful.
Fellow Earthlings’ identity carries a friendly, crafted, characterful spirit — a hand-made object, not a slick one. A warm handmade sans captures the mood: approachable, human and a little playful, the register of a small workshop. Set in a recycled-acetate palette, the warm handmade feels friendly and crafted — exactly the personality Fellow Earthlings carries. It is characterful rather than clinical, mirroring a hand-finished, one-of-a-kind frame. (Fellow Earthlings’ real frames, its collaborations and its wordmark are things we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a warm-handmade spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: friendly, crafted and characterful.

The workshop as identity
Fellow Earthlings stands for handmade by the ocean.
Fellow Earthlings is a lesson in making the workshop the identity. A recycled-acetate palette, a warm handmade and hand-finished, made-to-order frames make the small ocean-side workshop the whole brand — warm, earthy and crafted. The making is the differentiator. The differentiator is a genuine hand-making practice in a rural PEI field by the sea, where each frame is made to order and even the offcuts become new frames.
Put to work, the identity is the workshop as design. A house building in this spirit would let the hand-making and the place be the story, keep it small-batch, and close the loop on its own waste, so the customer buys into craft and reuse rather than volume. The lesson Fellow Earthlings teaches is that genuine hand-making plus a real material ethic can build a brand: the workshop gives it soul, and the recycled acetate gives it substance — with its collaborators credited honestly. The making is the personality, and the workshop is the proof.
For designers and brand-builders, Fellow Earthlings offers a clear takeaway: let the making be the brand. The lessons: make it by hand; reclaim your own waste; keep it small-batch; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: Fellow Earthlings was founded in 2015 by Christopher and Sydney Seggie on Prince Edward Island, Canada — not the United States — and is genuinely handmade in-house, with runway collaborations described but never reproduced and the palette here an unofficial interpretation. Fellow Earthlings made the ocean-side workshop the brand — proof that the making can be the difference.
