Monsillage Brand Guidelines
Perfumed memoirs.

Two constants: a blue-and-rust palette and an editorial sans register. Abstract homage — not the Monsillage packaging.
Perfumed memoirs
Monsillage composes perfume from places and memories.
Monsillage is a lesson in memory as identity. An independent niche house from Montréal, founded around 2012–2014 by the Québécoise perfumer Isabelle (Isabelle Michaud, as widely reported), trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, it composes perfume as a kind of travel memoir.
Its identity is place and memory: as the house puts it, “perfumed memoirs gathered left and right along a winding road.” The scents are coded to places and journeys — La Haute Route, Pays Dogon, Dupont Circle, Ipanema Posto Nove, Tilleul d’Amérique, and Vol 870 YUL-CDG (a Montréal-to-Paris flight number). The cult scent that first put the house on the map was Nuit de Bakélite, a green tuberose. The presentation is clean and art-forward.
(Honest notes: the founder’s first name (Isabelle) is on the brand’s own page; the surname Michaud is widely reported, so we attribute it that way. We describe the packaging generically — a graphic-design background and specifically illustrated labels are sometimes claimed but we couldn’t verify them, so we don’t assert a technique. Nuit de Bakélite appears to be discontinued. There’s no official brand hex, so these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote fragrance use.)
Colour
Monsillage lives in a blue-and-rust palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Monsillage’s identity is memoiristic, art-forward and modern — a travel blue, an ink, a maple rust, a sage, and a paper. The palette pairs a travel blue with a maple rust — the register of a journey and a Québec autumn. It signals memory and place rather than gloss. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a travel blue with a maple rust signals a place-and-memory brand. Monsillage’s world is a shelf of scented postcards. For designers, it is a reminder that a travel-coded palette reads as personal and evocative — right for a house of perfumed memoirs. The takeaways: source the palette from journeys and place; name for real places and flights; keep the presentation clean and art-forward; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is an editorial sans — clean, modern, evocative.
Monsillage’s identity carries a clean, modern, evocative spirit — a travel memoir and an art-forward label. An editorial sans captures the mood: it is clean and contemporary, the register of a design-led indie. Set in a blue-and-rust palette, the editorial sans feels clean and evocative — exactly the personality Monsillage carries. It is modern rather than ornate, mirroring an art-forward label. (Monsillage’s real packaging and wordmark are works we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “an editorial sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: clean, modern and evocative.

Memory as identity
Monsillage stands for perfume as memoir.
Monsillage is a lesson in making memory the identity. A blue-and-rust palette, an editorial sans and place-coded scents make memory the whole brand — clean, modern, evocative. The memory is the differentiator. The differentiator is a place-and-memory identity.
For designers and brand-builders, Monsillage offers a clear takeaway: build the range on real places and memories. The lessons: code each scent to a place or journey; name it concretely (a district, a flight); keep the design clean and art-forward; and be honest about what you can verify. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: it’s an independent Montréal house from around 2012–2014, its design hook is place-and-memory, and the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. Monsillage made memory the brand — proof that a place can be the difference.
