Amphion Brand Guidelines
The Finnish waveguide.

Two constants: a nordic-blue-and-birch palette and a nordic sans register. Abstract homage — not an Amphion speaker or wordmark.
The Finnish waveguide
Amphion builds waveguide loudspeakers, 100% made in Finland, in Kuopio.
Amphion is a lesson in a place and a principle as the identity. A Finnish loudspeaker maker in Kuopio, it builds minimalist, sealed-cabinet speakers around its signature waveguide — a shaped ring around the tweeter that controls how sound spreads — and it makes them, cabinets and all, in Finland. Sound, made a controlled, Nordic object.
Its identity is the Finnish waveguide. Amphion’s waveguide and its made-in-Finland cabinets are the work it is known for. A principle, made a signature. A maker whose speakers are used in mastering studios.
(Honest notes, so the story stays precise. Amphion was founded in 1998 by Anssi Hyvönen and is independent and founder-led. Everything is designed, assembled and cabineted in Finland — it is genuinely 100% made in Finland at that level. On drivers, we stay precise: like several respected speaker makers, Amphion sources its drive units from SEAS in Norway rather than making them, so we do not say it makes its own drivers — but it designs its own signature waveguide and builds its own cabinets. Its signatures are that “Uniformly Directive Diffusion” waveguide and sealed cabinets, in a spare Finnish design language. Its designs and name are its IP, described but never reproduced, and there is no official brand hex — these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
Amphion lives in a nordic-blue-and-birch palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Amphion’s identity is calm, minimal and Nordic — a nordic blue, an ink, a birch, a stone, and a chalk. The palette leans nordic blue and birch: the register of a cool Finnish blue against pale wood. It signals restraint and craft over show. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these values are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is a nordic-blue-and-birch palette signals a calm, Finnish identity. Amphion’s world is a spare, minimal, made-in-Finland object. For designers, it is a reminder that a cool blue and a pale wood can carry a brand built on restraint — the blue of a Nordic sky and the birch of a Finnish workshop. Because these tones can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: make it at home; own a principle; keep it minimal; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a nordic sans — clean, calm, minimal.
Amphion’s identity carries a clean, calm, minimal spirit — a restrained object, not a busy one. A nordic sans captures the mood: even, humane and quiet, the register of a spare, sealed-cabinet speaker. Set in a nordic-blue-and-birch palette, the nordic sans feels clean and calm — exactly the personality Amphion carries. It is minimal rather than loud, mirroring a understated Finnish cabinet. (Amphion’s real speakers and wordmark are things we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a nordic-sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the maker: clean, calm and minimal.

A place and a principle as identity
Amphion stands for the Finnish waveguide.
Amphion is a lesson in making a place and a principle the identity. A nordic-blue-and-birch palette, a nordic sans and waveguide speakers make Finnish restraint the whole maker — calm, minimal and controlled. The principle is the differentiator. The differentiator is a genuine, engineered idea — a waveguide that controls how sound spreads — built into a sealed cabinet and made, honestly, at home in Finland.
Put to work, the identity is restraint plus honest making. A maker building in this spirit would own one real engineering principle rather than a long spec list, make what it can at home, and be candid about what it sources, so the customer buys into a clear idea rather than a boast. In a field where “made here” is often a half-truth, it would treat genuinely building its cabinets in Finland as part of the value. It would let a spare, minimal look stand for confidence, so that quietness reads as craft. The lesson Amphion teaches is that a single principle plus honest, at-home making can build a brand: the waveguide gives it substance, and the Finnish making gives it credibility. The principle is the personality, and the making is the proof.
For designers and brand-builders, Amphion offers a clear takeaway: own a principle and make it where you say. The lessons: keep one idea; make it at home; be honest about sourcing; and be candid about the story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: Amphion is an independent Finnish maker founded in 1998 by Anssi Hyvönen, designing and building waveguide speakers in Finland — with drivers sourced from SEAS in Norway — and the palette here an unofficial interpretation. Amphion made the Finnish waveguide the maker — proof that a place and a principle can be the difference.
