Italian since 1970

Nalini is one of the oldest names in cycling apparel.

Nalini is a lesson in heritage as depth. Founded in 1970 by the Mantovani brothers, Claudio and Vincenzo, in Castel d’Ario, in the Mantova province of Lombardy, Italy, it is one of the oldest cycling-clothing makers still going — around sixty years of Italian production.

Its brand identity is Italian, heritage-rich and made-in-Italy — technical race apparel produced domestically with ultrasonic bonding, laser cutting and sublimation printing. Over the decades its kit has been worn by champions from Indurain and Pantani to Nibali and Girmay, and today it supplies the WorldTour team Picnic PostNL.

(Honest notes: Nalini isn’t an independent label — it’s the in-house brand of the manufacturer MOA Sport, run by the Mantovani family (the family name is Mantovani, not Nalini). We name the champions who wore Nalini rather than claiming specific historic team contracts. And there’s no official brand hex, so the tones here are an unofficial interpretation.)

Nalini lives in a heritage-wine palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.

Nalini’s identity is Italian, heritage and race-bred — an ink, a wine, a gold, a steel, and a cream. The palette leans on a deep heritage wine with gold — the register of sixty years of Italian racing and craft. It signals heritage, depth and made-in-Italy quality rather than novelty. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.

The lesson is a heritage wine plus gold signals Italian depth. Nalini’s world is a jersey made in Lombardy across six decades. For designers, it is a reminder that a deep wine with a gold accent reads as heritage and craft — right for one of the oldest names in the sport. The takeaways: anchor with ink; use a heritage wine; and treat any single hex as unofficial — using ink for small text so the palette stays rich.

Typography

The register is a heritage serif — refined and Italian.

Nalini’s identity carries a heritage, Italian, refined spirit — six decades of craft. A heritage serif captures the mood: it is refined and classic, the register of an old Italian house. Set in a heritage-wine palette, the serif feels refined and Italian — exactly the depth Nalini carries. It is classic rather than trend-led, mirroring a long lineage. (Nalini’s real wordmark is a trademark we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact brand typeface is not ours to use.) Because the mark is not ours to use, the honest description is “a heritage serif spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: heritage, Italian and refined.

Longevity as identity

Nalini stands for Italian heritage depth.

Nalini is a lesson in making longevity the identity. A heritage-wine palette, sixty years of Italian production and a champion-worn history make heritage depth the whole brand — refined, Italian, made-well. The longevity is the differentiator. The differentiator is a heritage, Italian, made-in-Italy identity.

For designers and brand-builders, Nalini offers a clear takeaway: time itself can be a brand. The lessons: lean on real longevity (since 1970); keep production honest (made in Italy by MOA); and let the heritage speak. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: it’s the in-house brand of MOA Sport (the Mantovani family), based in Mantova (not the Veneto), and the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. Nalini made longevity the brand — proof that depth can be the difference.

Source & notes

Editorial reference. This article reports publicly documented facts about Nalini’s visual identity; it is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Nalini. The Nalini name and wordmark are trademarks of their owner — the graphics here are original abstract homages (colour discs and swatches); no logo is reproduced, and all specimen text is set in a Google-Font stand-in, never in the Nalini logo or typeface. Facts reported from public sources (nalini.com, moasport.it): Nalini is one of the oldest Italian cycling-apparel brands, founded in 1970 by the Mantovani brothers (Claudio and Vincenzo) and based in Castel d’Ario, in the Mantova province of Lombardy — the in-house apparel brand of the vertically integrated manufacturer MOA Sport (MOA Sport Mantovani Vincenzo SRL), producing technical race apparel in Italy, worn over the decades by champions from Miguel Indurain and Marco Pantani to Vincenzo Nibali and Biniam Girmay, and today supplying the WorldTour team Picnic PostNL. Honest notes: Nalini is not independent — it is the in-house brand of MOA Sport, run by the Mantovani family (the family name is Mantovani, not Nalini); we name the champions who wore Nalini rather than asserting specific historic team-kit contracts; and no official brand hex is published, so the tones here are an unofficial interpretation.
