Designed in Colorado

Pactimo makes custom club kit and its own range.

Pactimo is a lesson in a dual business as a brand. Founded in 2003 and based in Denver, Colorado, the independent, family-owned company does two things at once: it makes custom club and team kit (its original business) and a full own-brand consumer range for road, gravel, MTB and indoor riding. Its name, “Pactimo” (pac-TEAM-o), is a play on the word “impactful.”

Its brand identity is Colorado, functional and community-minded — “Designed in Colorado,” with a Rocky-Mountain outdoor character across collections like Flyte (aero), Summit (recycled, temperature-regulating) and the bestselling Ascent. It kits the Human Powered Health pro team alongside its many clubs.

(Honest notes: Pactimo is genuinely independent and family-owned, but it is designed in Colorado and made in its own factory in China (with an Italian chamois) — not made in the USA. And there’s no official brand hex, so the tones here are an unofficial interpretation.)

Pactimo lives in a Rocky-Mountain palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.

Pactimo’s identity is Colorado, outdoor and functional — an ink, a pine, a canyon rust, a sky, and a sand. The palette leans on Rocky-Mountain tones — a pine green, a canyon rust — the register of Colorado’s mountains and red rock. It signals the outdoors, function and community rather than pro-racing flash. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.

The lesson is mountain tones signal an outdoor, functional brand. Pactimo’s world is a Colorado climb. For designers, it is a reminder that pine and canyon-rust read as outdoor and grounded — right for a brand designed in the Rockies. The takeaways: draw colour from the landscape; keep it functional; and treat any single hex as unofficial — using ink for small text so the palette stays grounded.

Typography

The register is a functional sans — clean and grounded.

Pactimo’s identity carries a functional, outdoor, community spirit — Colorado and club riding. A functional sans captures the mood: it is clean and grounded, the register of a practical, community-minded brand. Set in a Rocky-Mountain palette, the functional sans feels clean and grounded — exactly the personality Pactimo carries. It is practical rather than flashy, mirroring everyday kit. (Pactimo’s real wordmark is a trademark we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact brand typeface is not ours to use.) Because the mark is not ours to use, the honest description is “a functional sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: functional, outdoor and grounded.

04

Community as identity

Pactimo stands for Colorado, club-minded kit.

Pactimo is a lesson in making a dual model the identity. A Rocky-Mountain palette, a custom-kit engine and an own-brand range make Colorado, community-minded cycling the whole brand — functional, grounded, independent. The dual model is the differentiator. The differentiator is a Colorado, functional, custom-and-consumer identity.

For designers and brand-builders, Pactimo offers a clear takeaway: serving clubs can be the brand. The lessons: run both engines (custom and consumer); ground it in a place (Colorado); and back a community (clubs, ambassadors). It is also a reminder to stay accurate: it’s independent and family-owned, designed in Colorado but made in China, and the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. Pactimo made its dual model the brand — proof that serving a community can be the difference.

Source & notes

Editorial reference. This article reports publicly documented facts about Pactimo’s visual identity; it is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Pactimo. The Pactimo name and wordmark are trademarks of their owner — the graphics here are original abstract homages (colour discs and swatches); no logo is reproduced, and all specimen text is set in a Google-Font stand-in, never in the Pactimo logo or typeface. Facts reported from public sources (pactimo.com): Pactimo is an independent, family-owned Colorado cycling-apparel brand founded in 2003 and based in Denver, running a dual model — custom club and team kit (its original business) plus a full own-brand consumer range for road, gravel, MTB and indoor riding — under the line “Designed in Colorado,” with a Rocky-Mountain character across collections including Flyte (aero), Summit (recycled fabrics with 37.5 temperature-regulation tech) and the bestselling Ascent, and kitting the Human Powered Health pro team alongside many clubs; its name (“pac-TEAM-o”) derives from “impactful.” Honest notes: Pactimo is genuinely independent and family-owned (Pactimo LLC, long led by Frank Kim) but is designed in Colorado and manufactured in its own factory in China (with an Italian chamois) — not made in the USA; and no official brand hex is published, so the tones here are an unofficial interpretation.
