Fueguia 1833 Brand Guidelines

Two constants: a wood-and-green palette and a literary serif register. Abstract homage — not the Fueguia 1833 packaging.
The perfume library
Fueguia 1833 makes perfume like an ethnobotanical, literary archive.
Fueguia 1833 is a lesson in a library as identity. Founded in 2010 in Buenos Aires by Julián Bedel — an Argentine, self-taught perfumer — and now run from an atelier in Milan, it treats perfume as an ethnobotanical and literary project rather than a beauty product.
Its identity has two threads. First, an ethnobotanical naturalism: essences drawn from Patagonian and South American native plants (including a 50-acre plantation in Uruguay), over a thousand natural essences in the Milan lab, and small-batch editions of only a few hundred bottles that vary with the harvest. Second, a literary world — a Borges quotation on its own pages, collections named Alquimia, Antropología and Literatura, and scents told as narratives. The bottles are presented in hand-crafted wooden cases.
(Honest notes: the name references the Beagle and Tierra del Fuego moment through “Fuegia Basket,” a girl taken aboard the ship by its captain, contemporaneous with Darwin’s voyage — so it isn’t simply “Darwin’s voyage.” The wooden cases are characteristic of the house rather than a cited spec, and it’s natural rather than certified-organic. There’s no official brand hex, so these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote fragrance use.)
Colour
Fueguia 1833 lives in a wood-and-green palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Fueguia 1833’s identity is naturalist, literary and crafted — a reclaimed wood, an ink, a botanic green, an amber, and a cream. The palette pairs a reclaimed wood with a botanic green — the register of a naturalist’s cabinet. It signals nature and narrative rather than glamour. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a wood with a botanic green signals an ethnobotanical library. Fueguia’s world is a shelf of small, story-titled bottles. For designers, it is a reminder that a natural, woody palette reads as scholarly and crafted — right for a literary perfumer. The takeaways: source the palette from nature and craft (wood, green, amber); present the range as a library; name with literature and place; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a literary serif — scholarly, natural, narrative.
Fueguia 1833’s identity carries a scholarly, natural, narrative spirit — a naturalist’s cabinet and a literary title. A literary serif captures the mood: it is elegant and bookish, the register of an archive. Set in a wood-and-green palette, the literary serif feels scholarly and natural — exactly the personality Fueguia carries. It is narrative rather than loud, mirroring a story-titled bottle. (Fueguia’s real bottles, cases and wordmark are works we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a literary serif spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: scholarly, natural and narrative.

A library as identity
Fueguia 1833 stands for perfume as literature.
Fueguia 1833 is a lesson in making a library the identity. A wood-and-green palette, a literary serif and an ethnobotanical archive make a naturalist library the whole brand — scholarly, natural, narrative. The library is the differentiator. The differentiator is an ethnobotanical, literary identity.
For designers and brand-builders, Fueguia 1833 offers a clear takeaway: treat the range as an archive. The lessons: root the product in real nature (native essences, a plantation); tell each scent as a story; present it in crafted cases; and be honest about the history. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: the name is the Fuegia Basket / Beagle moment, it’s a 2010 Buenos Aires house now in Milan, and the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. Fueguia 1833 made a library the brand — proof that a scholarly world can be the difference.
