Easy peasy

Izipizi made colour and a clever code its whole voice.

Izipizi is a lesson in accessible, joyful design. Founded in 2010 in Paris as “See Concept” by three childhood friends — Xavier Aguera, Charles Brun and Quentin Couturier — it rebranded to Izipizi in 2017, selling reading glasses, sunglasses, screen glasses and kids’ frames in 85 countries. It is founder-controlled, with a minority investor (TowerBrook).

Its identity is playful, colourful and optimistic. The name is a phonetic take on “easy peasy” — and a palindrome, pronounceable anywhere. Its cleverest device is the “#” system: the letter (#A, #B, #C, #D…) denotes the frame shape — the round #D is the bestseller — while the +1.0 to +3.0 denotes the reading strength. Ultra-colourful soft-touch acetates (named tones like Frozen Blue and Deep Vermilion) and a rounded IZIPIZI wordmark complete a warm, unisex world.

(Honest notes: the first founder is Xavier Aguera — not “Aubert.” It was “See Concept” before the 2017 rebrand. In the “#” system the letter is shape and the +1.0–+3.0 is strength — don’t conflate them. The design studio isn’t documented, so we frame the identity as founder-led/in-house. And there’s no official brand hex, so these bright tones are an unofficial interpretation.)

Colour

Izipizi lives in a vermilion-and-blue palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.

Izipizi’s identity is bright, playful and optimistic — an ink, a vermilion, a yellow, a blue, and a cream. The palette is loud and multi-colour — the register of an accessible, joyful brand. It signals fun and approachability rather than austerity. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.

The lesson is a bright, multi-colour palette signals accessible joy. Izipizi’s world is a rainbow of soft-touch acetate. For designers, it is a reminder that loud, optimistic colour reads as friendly and democratic — right for glasses meant for everyone. The takeaways: go colourful and unisex; name your colours; make the system legible (shape by letter, strength by number); and — because bright hues fail as small text — keep type dark and let colour fill the fields; treat any single hex as unofficial.

Typography

The register is a rounded sans — playful, friendly, optimistic.

Izipizi’s identity carries a playful, friendly, optimistic spirit — colour and a clever code. A rounded sans captures the mood: it is soft and cheerful, the register of an accessible brand. Set in a vermilion-and-blue palette, the rounded sans feels playful and friendly — exactly the personality Izipizi carries. It is optimistic rather than austere, mirroring a rounded IZIPIZI wordmark. (Izipizi’s real wordmark is a work we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a rounded sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: playful, friendly and optimistic.

Accessibility as identity

Izipizi stands for joyful colour and an easy code.

Izipizi is a lesson in making accessibility the identity. A vermilion-and-blue palette, a rounded sans and an easy “#” code make joyful, democratic design the whole brand — colourful, friendly, clear. The accessibility is the differentiator. The differentiator is a colour-forward, easy-system identity.

For designers and brand-builders, Izipizi offers a clear takeaway: make it easy and joyful. The lessons: pick a name anyone can say (a palindrome of “easy peasy”); go colourful and unisex; and make the system legible (letter for shape, number for strength). It is also a reminder to stay accurate: the founder is Xavier Aguera, it was “See Concept” until 2017, and the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. Izipizi made accessibility the brand — proof that easy and joyful can be the difference.

Source & notes

Editorial reference. This article reports publicly documented facts about Izipizi’s visual identity as design commentary; it is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Izipizi, and it does not promote consumption. The Izipizi name and wordmark are trademarks/works of their owner — the graphics here are original abstract homages (colour discs and swatches); no wordmark or frame is reproduced, and all specimen text is set in a Google-Font stand-in. Facts reported from public sources (izipizi.com, Forbes, WWD, TowerBrook, LOGONEWS): Izipizi is a Paris eyewear brand founded in 2010 as “See Concept” by three childhood friends (Xavier Aguera, Charles Brun, Quentin Couturier), rebranded to Izipizi in 2017, selling reading glasses, sunglasses, screen glasses and kids’ frames in 85 countries; it is founder-controlled with a minority investor (TowerBrook, since 2022). Its identity is playful and colourful; the name is a phonetic, palindromic take on “easy peasy”; and its “#” system uses a letter (#A, #B, #C, #D…) for frame shape (the round #D is the bestseller) and +1.0 to +3.0 for reading strength, across ultra-colourful soft-touch acetates and a rounded IZIPIZI wordmark. Honest notes: the founder is Xavier Aguera (not “Aubert”); it was “See Concept” before the 2017 rebrand; in the “#” system the letter is shape and the +1.0–+3.0 is strength (not to be conflated); the design studio is undocumented (framed as founder-led/in-house — the Havas/Joosnabhan blog claim is unverified, and “Izipizi Street” is a different entity); and no official brand hex is published, so the bright tones here are an unofficial interpretation.
