What size should Instagram posts be?
Instagram displays photos at 1080 px wide. Use 1080 × 1080 for square, 1080 × 1350 for portrait 4:5 (the tallest standard feed format), 1080 × 566 for landscape, and 1080 × 1920 for Stories and Reels.
How do I post a whole photo without cropping?
Choose Fit. Your full photo is placed on a blurred version of itself (or a solid colour) at the exact Instagram size, so nothing is cut off.
What is the Story safe area?
Instagram covers the top and bottom of Stories with your profile, buttons and reply bar. The dashed guide marks roughly the area that stays clear — keep text and faces inside it.
Will my image be cropped?
Only if you choose Fill. Drag the image to choose what stays in frame and use Zoom to tighten it. Choose Fit to keep the whole image — the empty space is filled with a blurred copy of your photo or a solid colour.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
