Aspect ratios and social sizes
| Ratio | Common use |
|---|---|
| 1:1 | Instagram posts, profile pictures, product photos |
| 4:5 | Instagram portrait posts (the tallest feed format) |
| 9:16 | Stories, Reels, TikTok and Shorts |
| 16:9 | YouTube thumbnails, X/Twitter images, presentations |
| 3:2 | Standard camera photos and 6 × 4 in prints |
| 2:3 | Pinterest pins and portrait prints |
Pick a social preset to center-crop in one click, then drag the box to choose exactly what stays in the frame.
Crop vs. resize
Cropping cuts away the edges and keeps the pixels inside the box untouched. Resizing scales the whole picture up or down. To hit an exact size such as 1080 × 1080 px, crop to the ratio first (1:1), then set the pixel size in the Resize tab.
Choosing the output format
- JPG for photos — small and universally supported.
- PNG for screenshots, graphics and anything with transparency.
- WebP or AVIF for websites — much smaller files in modern browsers.
- PDF when a form or portal asks for a document instead of an image.

How do I crop an image to a specific aspect ratio?
Choose a ratio from the Aspect ratio menu — 1:1, 4:5, 9:16, 16:9, 4:3, 3:2 or 2:3 — and the crop box locks to it. Drag the box to choose which part of the image to keep.
Can I crop for Instagram or YouTube automatically?
Yes. Pick a Social crop preset and the image is center-cropped to that platform's shape. You can still move the box afterwards.
Does cropping reduce image quality?
Cropping only removes the outer area, so the pixels you keep are untouched. For JPG and WebP you can set the export quality; PNG output is lossless.
Can I resize as well as crop?
Yes — switch to the Resize tab to set exact pixel dimensions or a social-media size after cropping.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Cropping happens in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
