The split keyboard made in Taiwan.

Two constants: a split-coral palette and a split-sans register. Abstract homage — not a ZSA product or mark.
The split keyboard made in Taiwan
ZSA is the maker of the ErgoDox EZ, Moonlander and Voyager split keyboards — made in Taiwan.
ZSA brings the round its transparency — the Canadian company that productized the open-source ErgoDox into a warrantied split keyboard, and makes its boards in Taiwan by fairly paid employees rather than in a Chinese contract factory. ZSA makes split ergonomic keyboards, and its answer to a round about ergo and split boards is trust: a configurable split board, made openly and ethically, sold directly. A keyboard, made in the open.
Its identity is the split keyboard made in Taiwan. ZSA’s ErgoDox EZ, Moonlander and Voyager, and its transparency, are the story here. A keyboard, split. The split keyboard made in Taiwan.
(Honest notes, so the story stays precise. ZSA Technology Labs, at zsa.io, is a Canadian corporation, registered in Toronto with Quebec ties, so we say Canadian rather than flatly Montreal. It makes split ergonomic keyboards: the Voyager, a compact low-profile split; the Moonlander, a split with articulating thumb clusters; and the ErgoDox EZ, the original, a commercially assembled, warrantied version of the open-source ErgoDox designed by Dominic Beauchamp, running QMK; plus the Oryx browser-based layout editor, the Keymapp app and the typ.ing trainer. It launched via a 2015 crowdfunding campaign, and Erez Zukerman is CEO and co-founder, with the ErgoDox EZ credited to Zukerman, Dmitry Slepov and Yaara Lancet. On where it is made — the standout of this round — ZSA states plainly that its keyboards are made in an office building in Taiwan by fairly paid employees with full benefits, explicitly not by contractors in a factory in China, and that it ships from Taiwan. On ownership, it is independent and privately held, takes no investors, sells only direct, and runs a transparency-forward brand with a public Trust page. Its marks — ZSA, Moonlander, ErgoDox EZ — are IP we describe but do not reproduce, and there is no official brand hex; these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
ZSA lives in a split coral. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
ZSA’s identity is transparent, ethical and configurable — a split coral, an ink, a peach, a deep clay, and a paper. The palette leans split coral and peach: a warm, human register that nods to a transparency-forward maker rather than a cold technical palette. It signals an open, ethical brand. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these values are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is a split coral signals a transparent, ethical identity. ZSA’s world is a configurable, made object. For designers, it is a reminder that a warm coral and a soft peach can carry a keyboard brand — the tone of openness. Because these tones can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: productize open source; make it ethically; be radically transparent; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a split sans — open, configurable, plain.
ZSA’s identity carries an open, configurable, plain spirit — a transparent maker, not a boutique. A split sans captures the mood: clean, human and confident, the register of a configurable split board made in the open. Set in a split-coral palette, the split sans feels open and configurable — exactly the personality ZSA carries. It is an open object rather than a logo, mirroring a machined split case. (ZSA’s real wordmark is a thing we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a split-sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the keyboard: open, configurable and plain.

Ergo & split boards
ZSA stands for the split keyboard made in Taiwan.
ZSA brings the round its transparency. A split-coral palette, a split sans and a configurable split board make one thing — the split keyboard made in Taiwan — the whole identity: transparent, ethical and configurable. The Taiwan making is the differentiator, and the open, direct model is the meaning. The point is a Canadian company that productized the open-source ErgoDox and makes its boards in Taiwan by fairly paid employees, sold directly with a public Trust page.
Put to work, the identity is transparency told straight, as design. A maker in this spirit would productize open source, make it ethically, and be radically transparent. A reader in this spirit would keep the facts right: ZSA Technology Labs is a Canadian corporation, registered in Toronto with Quebec ties; it makes the Voyager, Moonlander and ErgoDox EZ split keyboards with the QMK-powered Oryx editor; it launched via 2015 crowdfunding, with Erez Zukerman as CEO and co-founder; its boards are made in Taiwan by fairly paid employees, explicitly not in a Chinese factory; and it is independent, takes no investors and sells direct. ZSA anchors the round’s where-made thread at the ethical-making end with Maltron and UHK, the local and fair-labour makers, and its open-source thread runs through the whole round. The honest editorial moves are to say Canadian not flatly Montreal, to credit the open-source ErgoDox origin, to state the Taiwan fair-labour making, and to note the no-investors, direct model. The lesson ZSA teaches is that transparency and ethical making can be a whole identity, and honesty about the Taiwan making keeps the trust credible.
For designers and brand-builders, ZSA continues ergo & split boards: make it ethically — and be radically transparent. The lessons: build on open source and credit it; choose fair-labour manufacture and name it; sell directly without investors; publish your ethics; and never reproduce a logo. It is also a reminder to stay precise: ZSA is the maker of the ErgoDox EZ, Moonlander and Voyager split keyboards, made in Taiwan — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. Read that way, ZSA is less a keyboard than a stance: a configurable split board made openly and ethically. The lesson for a brand is that transparency and ethical making reinforce each other, and naming the Taiwan fair-labour making keeps the trust earned. ZSA made the-split-keyboard-made-in-Taiwan the identity — proof that how you make can define a maker.
