Football Squares

Make a printable football squares board for game day. Type the two teams, pick 100 or 25 squares, and the numbers 0 to 9 are drawn at random for each side, in your browser. Paste the names and they fill the squares in order or shuffled, with Maya x4 for anyone who has more than one. Keep the numbers hidden until every square has a name, or leave the boxes blank to draw on the day. Type the score at the end of each quarter and the tool finds the winning square for you. It is the same game many people know as Super Bowl squares. You get a landscape PDF on US Letter or A4 with the board, a winners table and the rules, plus a PNG and a CSV of who has which square. Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

How to make a football squares board

    1. Type a title and the two teams: the first goes across the top, the second down the side.
    2. Pick 100 or 25 squares, and one, two or four sets of numbers.
    3. Paste the names, one per line, or leave the squares blank for people to write in.
    4. Choose when the numbers show: now, once the board is full, or never (blank boxes to fill by hand).
    5. Download the PDF and print it at 100% (Actual size). On game day, type each quarter’s score to find the winners.

What you can use it for

    • A board for a game day party at home
    • An office or club board that everyone signs up for
    • A 25-square board for a small group
    • A board with new numbers each quarter, so more people have a chance
    • A blank board to fill in and draw numbers from a hat

    Which numbers count each quarter

    2set 1set 1set 2set 2
    4set 1set 2set 3set 4

With one set, the same numbers count all game. The winners finder on this page always looks up the right set for each quarter.

    How the random draw works

Each team’s numbers are a shuffle of the ten digits, drawn with crypto.getRandomValues, the browser’s cryptographic random number generator. Values that would make some digits more likely than others are thrown away and drawn again, so every one of the 3,628,800 orders of the ten digits is equally likely.

That is different from filling the boxes with a spreadsheet RANDBETWEEN formula, which can give the same digit twice and leave another out. Press Draw new numbers to draw again; the time of the latest draw is printed on the board.

    Colours and print

Colour themes: Field green, Navy, Red, Orange and black, Ink saver (black and white). The ink saver prints black lines on white, with light grey for winning squares.

The board prints on one landscape US Letter or A4 page. Names are fitted to their square, on up to two lines. The PNG is the same page at 300 DPI, and the CSV lists every square with its row, column, name and numbers, for a spreadsheet or a group chat.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is football squares?

A party game played on a 10 × 10 grid. Each person puts a name in one or more squares. The numbers 0 to 9 are then drawn at random along the top and down the side, one row of numbers for each team. Many people call it Super Bowl squares.

How do you win at football squares?

At the end of each quarter, take the last digit of each team’s score. Find the first team’s digit along the top and the second team’s digit down the side: the square where they meet wins. A score of 17 to 10 at the end of the first quarter means 7 across the top and 0 down the side.

When should the numbers be drawn?

Usually after every square has a name, so nobody knows which numbers they will get. Choose Show when every square has a name and the tool keeps the numbers hidden until the board is full.

    How are the numbers drawn?

In your browser, with its cryptographic random number generator. Each team gets the digits 0 to 9 in a random order, so no digit repeats or goes missing, and every order is equally likely. The time of the draw is printed under the board.

    What is a 25-square board?

A 5 × 5 board for smaller groups. Each row and column gets two numbers instead of one, so each square covers four score combinations.

What are two or four sets of numbers?

With two sets, there are new numbers for the second half; with four, new numbers for each quarter. The board shows each set in its own row, marked H1 and H2 or Q1 to Q4, so the same person is less likely to win every time.

What if the board is not full?

The open squares stay blank. If the score lands on an open square, the group decides what happens: some roll it over to the next quarter, some pick the nearest square. Agree before the game.

    Does overtime count?

Most groups use the final score, including overtime, for the last winner. Agree on it before kickoff.

    What do people play for?

That is up to your group: snacks, a trophy, picking the next film, or just bragging rights. Football squares is a party game: keep it friendly and follow your local rules.

Can I use the board for an office party or a club?

Yes. You may use what you make here, including commercially, with no credit needed.

    Are the names uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser, the names never leave your device, and nothing is saved when you close the page.
