Easter Egg Template

Print an Easter egg template for free. Pick a classic egg, a round egg, a slim egg, a cracked egg in two halves, an egg in an egg cup or a stitched-edge egg for felt, or one of each. Choose a height from 2 in to a 10 in full-page egg, or type any size up to 40 in: bigger eggs are tiled with overlap guides. Add decorating lines to colour (bands, a zigzag band, wavy stripes, dots, or a different pattern on each egg), names for an egg hunt or place cards, a hanging hole, or a solid colour or pattern fill. Make a nested set of sizes or an egg garland that cuts as one strip. Download a true-size PDF on US Letter or A4, an SVG cut file or a PNG. No sign-up, no watermark.

Runs in your browser with our own code; your words and picture never leave your device, and nothing is saved. Every outline is our own drawing. Shapes bigger than one sheet are tiled with overlap guides. The PDF is true size: print at 100% (Actual size) and check the 50 mm bar on each sheet.

How to print an Easter egg template

  1. Choose what to make: eggs of one size, a nested set of sizes, or an egg garland.
  2. Choose the egg shape and a height in inches or cm, and how many (or fill the sheet).
  3. Optional: pick decorating lines, type names (one per egg), tick a dashed cutting line or a hanging hole, choose a colour or a pattern.
  4. Download the PDF and print at 100% (Actual size); check the 50 mm bar on each sheet. There is also an SVG (true size, for Cricut, Silhouette or laser cutters) and a 300 DPI PNG, one per sheet.
  5. Cut along the solid line (or the dashes); for the cracked egg cut out both halves.

What you can use it for

  • Colouring and decorating at an Easter party
  • Egg hunt cards with names, clues or numbers
  • Tracing templates for felt, fabric and paper collage
  • Garlands, bulletin boards and window eggs
  • Hatching chick and surprise-egg crafts with the cracked egg

Stitched-edge egg7.6 cm × 10.2 cmFelt eggs (sewing guide), lacing cards

The cracked egg is drawn as two halves with a small gap between them, so its height includes the gap. The egg cup and the cracked egg cannot be joined into a garland or nested one inside the other; the tool says so and uses the classic egg.

Decorating lines

Choose bands to fill with patterns, zigzag band, wavy stripes, dots or a different pattern on each egg. The lines are clipped to the inside of each egg and print as dark grey line work to colour, paint or fill with your own doodles; they also show in the SVG and the PNG.

4 in (10.2 cm) to 12 in (30.5 cm), steps of 2 in (5.1 cm)52too big for one sheet

Concentric sets are one design of rings centred on the egg, each labelled with its height (tiled when the largest egg is bigger than the sheet); separate eggs are packed onto as few sheets as possible. The classic, round, slim and stitched eggs nest; the cracked egg and the egg cup print as separate pieces.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes can I print?

Any height from half an inch to 40 inches. The presets go from 2 in to 10 in (one Letter sheet) and 12, 18 and 24 in, which are tiled over several sheets with overlap guides.

What does the size mean?

The height of the egg: a 6 in egg is 6 inches from top to bottom. The width depends on the shape; the line under the preview shows both.

How many eggs fit on one page?

It depends on the size: tick “Fill the sheet” and the tool fits as many as it can. The size table on this page shows the counts for US Letter and A4.

How does the cracked egg work?

It prints as two pieces, split by a zigzag crack. Join them at one side with a paper fastener so the egg opens, then draw or glue a chick or a message inside.

Can I get eggs with patterns to colour?

Yes. Choose Decorating lines: bands to fill with your own patterns, a zigzag band, wavy stripes, dots, or a different pattern on each egg. The lines print in dark grey inside the egg.

Can I put names on the eggs?

Yes. Type names or words separated by commas or one per line, and each egg gets one: handy for an egg hunt or place cards.

Can I use it with a Cricut or Silhouette?

Yes. Download the SVG: it is true size in millimetres, with the outlines on their own cut layer.

Can I sell things I make with these eggs?

The designs are our own drawings: you may use them and anything you make with them, including things you sell, with no credit needed.
