January 2029 Calendar

Print a January 2029 calendar to start the year. January 2029 starts on a Monday and ends on a Wednesday; its 31 days fit in 5 week rows whether the week starts on Sunday or Monday, and ISO week 1 starts on the 1st. New Year’s Day is Monday 1 January, and the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., as the US Office of Personnel Management names it, is Monday 15 January: two Monday federal holidays. Inauguration Day is Saturday 20 January 2029. It is a holiday only for federal employees in the Washington, DC, area, and OPM says that this time it is not observed on another day, so the calendar marks it as an observance. GOV.UK has not yet published the UK bank holidays for 2029, so the UK options show none for now rather than guessed dates. Choose Classic, Bold, our own snowy winter scene, or a planner with goals, a to-do list and notes for the new year; add moon phases, week numbers and your own events; download a PDF in US Letter, A4 or A3, a PNG or SVG, or a phone or desktop wallpaper.

UK sets: GOV.UK has not yet published the bank holidays for 2029, so England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland show none for January 2029 and the page footer says so.

Sources: the US Office of Personnel Management federal holiday schedules for 2028 and 2029 (holiday names as OPM gives them), 5 U.S.C. 6103 for Inauguration Day, GOV.UK for the bank holidays list, and the US Naval Observatory for moon phases.

Rule: 20 January of each fourth year after 1965 is Inauguration Day, a holiday for federal employees in the Washington, DC, area (5 U.S.C. 6103(c)). OPM’s note for 2029: Inauguration Day, 20 January 2029, falls on a Saturday; only employees scheduled to work that Saturday may be excused with paid holiday time, it is not observed on another day, and there is no in-lieu-of holiday for employees who are not regularly scheduled to work on it (5 U.S.C. 6103(c)).

When 20 January is a Sunday, the law makes the next day chosen for the public inauguration the holiday instead; that day is set each time, so the calendar marks only 20 January.

Frequently asked questions

What day does January 2029 start on?

January 2029 starts on a Monday and ends on a Wednesday. It has 31 days: 23 weekdays and 8 weekend days, in 5 week rows with either week start.

When is Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2029?

Monday 15 January 2029, the third Monday in January. The US Office of Personnel Management 2029 schedule lists it as the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., and the calendar uses that name.

When is Inauguration Day 2029?

Saturday 20 January 2029. Under 5 U.S.C. 6103(c), 20 January of every fourth year after 1965 is a holiday for federal employees in the Washington, DC, area. OPM says that in 2029 it is not observed on another day and there is no in-lieu-of holiday for employees not scheduled to work that Saturday.

Is Inauguration Day a federal holiday everywhere?

No. It is a legal public holiday only for federal employees in the District of Columbia, Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland, Arlington and Fairfax Counties in Virginia, and the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church, so the calendar shows it in grey, not red.

How many working days are in January 2029?

23 weekdays, or 21 working days after New Year’s Day and the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., both on Mondays.

When are the UK bank holidays in January 2029?

GOV.UK has not published the 2029 bank holidays yet; its list currently ends in December 2028. The calendar shows no UK bank holidays for 2029 rather than guessing, and says so at the foot of the page.

When is the full moon in January 2029?

30 January 2029 at 06:03 UTC, per the US Naval Observatory: 01:03 on 30 January in US Eastern time and 22:03 on 29 January in US Pacific, so West Coast calendars show it a day earlier.

Is my information uploaded?

No. Your events and settings stay in this browser, and the PDF and images are made on your device.
