OVVO Brand Guidelines

Two constants: a steel-teal-and-silver palette and a technical grotesque register. Abstract homage — not an OVVO piece or wordmark.
The screwless frame
OVVO makes screwless steel-and-titanium frames — designed in New York, made in Poland.
OVVO is a lesson in an engineered detail as the identity. An American brand from the New York area, it builds ultralight frames from a steel-and-titanium composite, joined by a screwless, flexible hinge.
Its identity is the screwless frame. OVVO’s surgical-steel-and-titanium eyewear, with its patented screwless hinge, is the work it is known for. No screws. A frame that flexes and snaps back.
(Honest notes: OVVO Optics is a US-headquartered brand based in the New York area — the founder is in New Jersey, and “Brooklyn” is a loose, unverified shorthand — led by Artur Pilat, who left a finance career in 2011. Two dates matter: the OVVO brand dates to 2010–2011, while a “1980” figure some sources cite is the Polish family frame-factory heritage, not the brand’s age, so we keep them distinct. Its signature is a fusion of surgical steel and titanium — a composite, not pure steel — that is ultralight and hypoallergenic, joined by a patented screwless hinge that flexes and snaps back; note it is screwless, not literally hinge-less. On the making, the honest and central point: the frames are handmade and assembled in Poland, at a family factory, from Swedish steel and titanium, with the metal laser-cut in Germany — while the design sits in New York. So “made in the USA” and “made in Germany” are both false; the accurate made-in is Poland. It is independent and family-owned. The screwless hinge and steel-titanium composite are patented — IP we describe but don’t reproduce — and there’s no official brand hex, so these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
OVVO lives in a steel-teal-and-silver palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
OVVO’s identity is engineered, light and modern — a steel teal, an ink, a silver, a graphite, and a frost. The palette leans steel teal and silver — the register of surgical steel and cool, precise engineering. It signals technology and craft rather than novelty. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a steel-teal-and-silver palette signals a screwless frame. OVVO’s world is an engineered, light, modern object. For designers, it is a reminder that a single engineered detail — a hinge that needs no screws — can be the whole identity, and that a cool, metallic palette signals that engineering. Because a mid steel teal can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: solve one detail; patent it; make it light; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a technical grotesque — precise, engineered, modern.
OVVO’s identity carries a precise, engineered, modern spirit — a light, technical object. A technical grotesque captures the mood: it is clean and engineered, the register of a materials brand. Set in a steel-teal-and-silver palette, the technical grotesque feels precise and engineered — exactly the personality OVVO carries. It is modern rather than ornate, mirroring a screwless steel frame. (OVVO’s real frames, hinge and wordmark are works we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a technical grotesque spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: precise, engineered and modern.

An engineered detail as identity
OVVO stands for the screwless frame.
OVVO is a lesson in making an engineered detail the identity. A steel-teal-and-silver palette, a technical grotesque and a screwless hinge make one solved problem the whole brand — engineered, light, modern. The detail is the differentiator. The differentiator is engineering: a hinge that flexes and snaps back without a single screw, in a steel-and-titanium composite few others use.
Put to work, the identity is engineering as design. A brand building in this spirit would solve one real problem — here, the screw and the weight — protect the solution with patents, and let the material and mechanism define the look. The lesson OVVO teaches is that an engineered detail plus honest sourcing can build a brand: a genuine innovation, a distinctive material, and a clean, technical design language give it an identity a fashion frame can’t. The detail is the signature, and the engineering is the proof.
For designers and brand-builders, OVVO offers a clear takeaway: let one engineered detail carry the object. The lessons: solve a real problem; protect it; make it light; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to stay precise about origin: OVVO is a US brand, but its frames are made in Poland — from Swedish steel, laser-cut in Germany — so neither “made in the USA” nor “made in Germany” is right, and it is screwless rather than hinge-less, in a steel-and-titanium composite rather than pure steel — the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. OVVO made the screwless frame the brand — proof that an engineered detail can be the difference.
