Cocomeister Brand Guidelines
European leather, Japanese hands.

Two constants: a Napoleon-navy palette and a prestige sans register. Abstract homage — not a Cocomeister design or wordmark.
European leather, Japanese hands
Cocomeister is an independent, founder-led house crafting European leathers in Japan.
Cocomeister is a lesson in a sourcing philosophy as the identity. A Tokyo house, it builds its whole identity on premium European tannery leathers — British bridle, Italian calf, shell cordovan — crafted, it says, by Japanese artisans and sold direct through its own stores. Its answer to this round’s question is an independent, founder-led one: no group, no fund, a house that kept its own operation. A wallet, made of a European hide by a Japanese hand.
Its identity is the independent, European-leather house. Cocomeister’s named tannery leathers, its Japanese craft claim and its direct-only model are the work it is known for. A sourcing story, made a signature. A house still led by its founder.
(Honest notes, so the story stays precise. Cocomeister is run by COCOMEISTER Inc., founded in 2009 as Ruanje and later renamed, with Hayashi Yuma as its founder and representative director; it is unlisted and independent, not part of any group, and is not run by a company called “Rich-uP.” The brand itself launched around 2011, based in Tokyo with strong Osaka roots, selling direct online and through a handful of its own flagship stores rather than wholesale. On where it is made we are careful: the house consistently presents its goods as made in Japan by skilled artisans — that is central to its identity and its answer to customers — so we report it as the brand’s own strong and consistent claim rather than an independently audited fact, with the leather itself sourced from named European tanneries. Its collection names and designs are its IP, described but never reproduced, and there is no official brand hex; these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
Cocomeister lives in a Napoleon-navy palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Cocomeister’s identity is prestige, deep and considered — a Napoleon navy, an ink, a cordovan gold, a bridle chestnut, and a chalk. The palette leans navy and cordovan: the register of European bridle and cordovan leathers presented as heirloom objects. It signals material and craft over show. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these values are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is a navy palette signals a prestige, material-led identity. Cocomeister’s world is a European-leather, Japanese-crafted, direct-sold object. For designers, it is a reminder that a deep navy and a warm cordovan can carry a brand built on sourced materials — the navy of a fine calf and the cordovan of a polished shell. Because these tones can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: name your materials; keep the operation your own; sell direct; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a prestige sans — clean, confident, modern.
Cocomeister’s identity carries a clean, confident, modern spirit — a prestige object, not a loud one. A prestige sans captures the mood: even, polished and current, the register of an aspirational direct-to-customer house. Set in a Napoleon-navy palette, the prestige sans feels clean and confident — exactly the personality Cocomeister carries. It is modern rather than ornate, mirroring a heritage-styled object sold online. (Cocomeister’s real designs and collection names are things we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a prestige-sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the maker: clean, confident and modern.

The independent house
Cocomeister stands for the independent, European-leather house.
Cocomeister is a lesson in staying independent while sourcing the world. A Napoleon-navy palette, a prestige sans and named European leathers make one thing — a founder-led house that kept its own operation — the whole maker: prestige, deep and considered. The independence is the differentiator. The differentiator is control: no group, no wholesale, a house that sources fine leather abroad and sells its own goods direct.
Put to work, the identity is independence as design. A maker building in this spirit would keep ownership founder-led, name its materials proudly, and control its own channel rather than scatter through wholesale, so the customer buys a curated, coherent object. It would let the leather’s provenance be the story — British bridle, Italian calf, shell cordovan. It would be honest that “made in Japan” is its own strong claim, presented as such. The lesson Cocomeister teaches is that independence and a clear sourcing philosophy can build a brand: the ownership gives it focus, and the material story gives it depth. The independence is the personality, and the direct model is the proof.
For designers and brand-builders, Cocomeister belongs to this round about the independent house: keep ownership and channel your own, and be clear about materials. The lessons: stay founder-led; name your leathers; sell direct; and never reproduce a protected design. It is also a reminder to stay precise: Cocomeister is run by the independent, founder-led COCOMEISTER Inc. (founded 2009 as Ruanje; Hayashi Yuma), presenting European leathers as crafted in Japan — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. Cocomeister made independence the maker — proof that owning your own operation can be the difference.
