Ice Barrel Brand Guidelines
The stand-up barrel, now Sunlighten’s.

Two constants: a barrel-navy palette and a barrel-sans register. Abstract homage — not an Ice Barrel product or mark; no barrel, water or logo is reproduced.
The stand-up barrel, now Sunlighten’s
Ice Barrel is the Ohio brand that made the upright cold-therapy barrel its own — now a wholly owned subsidiary of Sunlighten.
Ice Barrel follows Plunge as the round’s form-factor node — an Ohio brand that built its identity on a single shape, the upright barrel you stand in, and that has now been absorbed by an infrared-sauna maker appearing later in this round. Its answer to a round about who owns the wellness gear and where it is made is an honest one: a founder’s side-project that defined a form factor, was privately backed, and was ultimately acquired by Sunlighten.
Its identity is the stand-up barrel, now Sunlighten’s. The barrel form factor, the US making and the Sunlighten ownership are the story here. Stand up, cool down. The stand-up barrel, now Sunlighten’s.
(Honest notes, so the founding, the ownership, the making and the health claims are framed accurately, and one common error corrected. Ice Barrel sells upright cold-therapy barrels as its heroes — the Ice Barrel 300, 400 and 500, in which a user sits or stands submerged to the neck, a space-saving alternative to horizontal tubs; we report its language as the brand’s own. On origin: Ice Barrel was founded in 2017, not 2019, by Wyatt Ewing after a corporate-aviation career, and is based in Sugarcreek, Ohio. On ownership, corrected: Ice Barrel did not appear on Shark Tank, a common mix-up with Plunge; instead it took a private 2023 investment from Anne Mahlum, the Solidcore founder, and then in May 2025 Sunlighten acquired the key assets of Ice Barrel Inc., which now operate as Ice Barrel, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sunlighten, with Ewing staying on to support the transition; Sunlighten appears later in this round, so the two are now related. On where it is made: Ice Barrel is made in the USA, its barrels formed from food and medical-grade LLDPE plastic. On health, carefully: the recovery, inflammation, mood, immune and other benefits it associates with cold therapy are the brand’s claims and emerging research, not established medicine, and the brand itself carries a medical disclaimer, so we attribute them and treat the barrels as wellness gear. Its designs and the Ice Barrel name are IP we describe but do not reproduce; there is no official brand hex; these tones are an unofficial interpretation.)
Colour
Ice Barrel lives in a barrel navy. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Ice Barrel’s identity is form-defining, US-made and acquired — a barrel navy, an ink, a pale steel, a deep navy, and a paper. The palette leans barrel navy and pale steel: a deep, cold register that nods to dark water and a standing barrel rather than a loud logo colour. It signals the stand-up barrel, now Sunlighten’s — form-defining, US-made and acquired. The honest caveat: with no official brand hex, these values are a cold, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is a deep navy signals a serious, cold-therapy identity. Ice Barrel’s world is the upright barrel of cold water. For designers, it is a reminder that a deep navy and a soft steel can carry a serious, recovery brand — a cold tone held as an accent, not a product shot. Because a dark hue can read heavy, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: credit the 2017 Ohio founding and Wyatt Ewing; correct the Shark Tank error, noting the private Anne Mahlum investment; update the ownership to Sunlighten with the shared-round link; credit the US making; and attribute the health claims.
Typography
The register is a barrel sans — form-defining, US-made, acquired.
Ice Barrel’s identity carries a form-defining, US-made, acquired spirit — a one-shape brand now inside a larger wellness company. A barrel sans captures the mood: sturdy, plain and upright, the register of a functional recovery tool. Set in a barrel-navy palette, the barrel sans feels serious and functional — exactly the personality Ice Barrel carries. It behaves like a made, working thing rather than a loud logo, mirroring an immersion-line and a frost-ring. (Ice Barrel’s real products and the name are things we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a barrel-sans brand,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: form-defining, US-made and acquired.

The wellness node
Ice Barrel stands for the stand-up barrel, now Sunlighten’s.
Ice Barrel sits second in the round as its form-factor node. A barrel-navy palette, a barrel sans and an upright shape make one thing — the stand-up barrel, now Sunlighten’s — the whole identity: form-defining, US-made and acquired. The barrel form factor is the pitch, the US making is the pride, and the Sunlighten ownership is the honest frame. The point is a one-shape brand now inside a larger wellness company, in a round about who owns the wellness gear and where it is made.
Put to work, the identity is the brand told straight, the Shark Tank error corrected and the ownership updated. A brand in this spirit would credit the 2017 Ohio founding and Wyatt Ewing, correct the Shark Tank mix-up and note the Anne Mahlum investment, update the ownership to Sunlighten with the shared-round link, credit the US making, and attribute the health claims. A reader in this spirit would keep the facts right: Ice Barrel sells the 300, 400 and 500 upright barrels as its heroes; it was founded in 2017 by Wyatt Ewing in Sugarcreek, Ohio; it did not appear on Shark Tank but took a private 2023 Anne Mahlum investment, and Sunlighten acquired its key assets in May 2025, making it a Sunlighten subsidiary; it is made in the USA from LLDPE; and its cold-therapy benefits are the brand’s claims and emerging research, with a medical disclaimer. Ice Barrel sits after Plunge and before Renu Therapy. The honest editorial moves are to credit the founder, to correct the error, to update the ownership, and to attribute the claims.
For designers and brand-builders, Ice Barrel carries the wellness node: correct a Shark Tank myth — and update a founder story to its acquirer. The lessons: a brand can own a single form factor, here the upright barrel; a founding is credited to 2017 and Wyatt Ewing, with the Shark Tank mix-up corrected and the private Mahlum investment noted; an ownership is updated to Sunlighten as of 2025, with the shared-round relationship named; a US-made claim is credited; and health benefits are attributed rather than asserted. It is also a reminder to stay precise: Ice Barrel is the US-made upright-barrel brand, now a Sunlighten subsidiary — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. The hook is that arc: the brand that made the stand-up barrel its identity, a corporate-aviation professional’s burnout side-project from 2017 in Sugarcreek, Ohio, grew into a category leader, drew a private investment from Solidcore’s Anne Mahlum, and was absorbed by infrared-sauna maker Sunlighten in 2025. Read that way, Ice Barrel is less a single barrel than the stand-up barrel, now Sunlighten’s: form-defining, US-made, acquired. The lesson for a brand is that correcting the myth and updating the ownership reinforce each other, and crediting the making keeps the story earned. Ice Barrel made the-stand-up-barrel the identity — proof that an honestly-updated account can anchor a node.
