Supergoop Brand Guidelines
The brand that made SPF an everyday step.

Two constants: a sky-cyan palette and an everyday-SPF-sans register. Abstract homage — not a Supergoop product or mark.
The brand that made SPF an everyday step
Supergoop is the everyday-SPF pioneer that moved sunscreen into daily skincare.
Supergoop brings the round a mission — the everyday-SPF brand, founded by Holly Thaggard, that set out to move sunscreen out of the beach bag and into a daily skincare step, and whose invisible primer-sunscreen became a category. Supergoop makes SPF skincare, and its answer to a round about sun care is a habit: an unseen sunscreen, a glow screen, a play lotion, designed to be worn every day like moisturiser. A brand, everyday.
Its identity is the brand that made SPF an everyday step. Supergoop’s everyday-SPF mission, its invisible hero and its founder are the story here. A brand, everyday. The brand that made SPF an everyday step.
(Honest notes, so the story stays precise, and the claims stay the brand’s own. Supergoop, at supergoop.com, makes sun-protection skincare and calls itself experts in SPF, with heroes such as Unseen Sunscreen, Glowscreen and the PLAY lotion, positioned as everyday, invisible, wear-it-like-skincare protection, and because sunscreen is a regulated over-the-counter drug in the United States, we report every SPF, broad-spectrum and water-resistant claim strictly as the brand’s own regulated positioning, never as established fact, and we give no sun-safety advice. The brand states it has been going since 2005, though some sources cite 2007, so we use its own 2005. Supergoop tells the story that its founder, Holly Thaggard, a former teacher, started the brand after a friend was diagnosed with skin cancer, which we frame as the brand’s own narrative. On where it is made, a theme of this round, a country of manufacture is not documented, so we do not assert one. On ownership, a star theme of this round, it is not independent: a growth-equity firm, Berkshire Partners, is reported to have made a majority investment in 2021, with Thaggard staying on, which we present as reported, without a figure. Its name and product marks are IP we describe but do not reproduce; there is no official brand hex; these tones are an unofficial interpretation.)
Colour
Supergoop lives in a sky cyan. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Supergoop’s identity is everyday, bright and clean — a sky cyan, an ink, a sky, a deep teal, and a paper. The palette leans sky cyan and sky: a bright, optimistic register that nods to daylight and an everyday habit rather than a loud palette. It signals everyday SPF. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these values are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is a sky cyan signals an everyday, bright identity. Supergoop’s world is a bright, made object. For designers, it is a reminder that a sky cyan and a soft sky can carry a sunscreen brand — the tone of daylight. Because these tones can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: make it everyday; make it invisible; report claims as positioning; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is an everyday-SPF sans — bright, plain, optimistic.
Supergoop’s identity carries a bright, plain, optimistic spirit — everyday SPF, not a fashion. An everyday-SPF sans captures the mood: clean, bright and confident, the register of a daily habit. Set in a sky-cyan palette, the everyday-SPF sans feels bright and optimistic — exactly the personality Supergoop carries. It is a habit rather than a logo, mirroring a sunscreen and daylight. (Supergoop’s real packaging is a thing we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “an everyday-SPF-sans skincare,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: bright, plain and optimistic.

Under the sun
Supergoop stands for the brand that made SPF an everyday step.
Supergoop brings the round a mission. A sky-cyan palette, an everyday-SPF sans and an invisible hero make one thing — the brand that made SPF an everyday step — the whole identity: everyday, bright and clean. The everyday-SPF mission is the concept, and the invisible sunscreen is the proof. The point is a sunscreen designed to be worn every day like moisturiser, not saved for the beach.
Put to work, the identity is a habit told straight, as design. A maker in this spirit would make it everyday, make it invisible, and report claims as positioning. A reader in this spirit would keep the facts right: Supergoop makes everyday SPF skincare, with an invisible hero sunscreen; the brand dates itself to 2005; it tells the story of a founder, Holly Thaggard, who started it after a friend’s skin-cancer diagnosis; a country of manufacture is undocumented; and it is not independent, with a reported Berkshire Partners majority investment in 2021. Supergoop anchors the round’s SPF-as-skincare thread with Ultra Violette. The honest editorial moves are to use the brand’s own 2005, to frame the origin as the brand’s narrative, to say the making is undocumented, to state the Berkshire investment as reported, and to report the SPF claims as positioning. The lesson Supergoop teaches is that an everyday habit can be a whole identity, and reporting the claims as positioning keeps it credible.
For designers and brand-builders, Supergoop continues under the sun: make it everyday — and make it invisible. The lessons: reframe a category, from beach to every day; design a product that disappears into a routine; report SPF language strictly as regulated positioning; be honest that a founder brand took majority investment; and never reproduce packaging. It is also a reminder to stay precise: Supergoop is the everyday-SPF pioneer that moved sunscreen into daily skincare — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. Read that way, Supergoop is less a bottle than a habit: SPF, every day. The lesson for a brand is that a habit and honest positioning reinforce each other, and stating the Berkshire investment keeps the story earned. Supergoop made the-brand-that-made-SPF-an-everyday-step the identity — proof that a habit can define a brand.
