Allied Maker Brand Guidelines
The handmade light.

Two constants: a bronze-and-sage palette and a clean sans register. Abstract homage — not an Allied Maker piece or wordmark.
The handmade light
Allied Maker handcrafts material-forward lighting in its own Long Island workshop.
Allied Maker is a lesson in material handcraft as the identity. An American studio on Long Island, it makes minimal, material-forward lighting by hand — brass, wood, glass and alabaster, worked in its own workshop.
Its identity is the handmade light. Allied Maker’s pared-back pendants, sconces and flush mounts, in warm natural materials, are the work it is known for. Craft, in light. Material, made quiet.
(Honest notes: Allied Maker is a US lighting studio founded in 2012 — not 2014 — by Ryden Rizzo, who started in his parents’ Long Island garage while at design school; his wife Lanette Rizzo is now creative director. Its studio and workshop are on the North Shore of Long Island, with a showroom in Tribeca, Manhattan — so we don’t conflate the two. Its signature is handcrafted, minimal, material-forward lighting in brass, hardwood, glass and alabaster. On the making, an honest nuance: pieces are largely handmade in its own Long Island workshop, but the brand also partners with local US makers, so it is not a pure single-roof operation, and standard electrical components and some materials are bought in — so we say “largely handmade in-house, with local US partner makers” rather than “everything made under one roof.” It is independent and founder-led. Its model names and any designer collaborations are IP we describe but don’t reproduce, and there’s no official brand hex, so these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
Allied Maker lives in a bronze-and-sage palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Allied Maker’s identity is warm, natural and quiet — a bronze, an ink, a sage, a graphite, and an alabaster. The palette leans bronze and sage — the register of aged brass and natural, muted material. It signals craft and material rather than novelty. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a bronze-and-sage palette signals a handmade light. Allied Maker’s world is a warm, natural, quiet object. For designers, it is a reminder that material handcraft — brass, wood, glass, alabaster, worked by hand — can be the whole identity, and that a natural, muted palette signals that craft. Because a mid bronze can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: make it by hand; honour the materials; keep it quiet; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a clean sans — quiet, natural, crafted.
Allied Maker’s identity carries a quiet, natural, crafted spirit — a material, hand-made object. A clean sans captures the mood: it is simple and unforced, the register of quiet craft. Set in a bronze-and-sage palette, the clean sans feels quiet and natural — exactly the personality Allied Maker carries. It is understated rather than loud, mirroring a handmade light. (Allied Maker’s real fixtures, model names and wordmark are works we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a clean sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: quiet, natural and crafted.

Material handcraft as identity
Allied Maker stands for the handmade light.
Allied Maker is a lesson in making material handcraft the identity. A bronze-and-sage palette, a clean sans and a handmade light make craft the whole brand — warm, natural, quiet. The handcraft is the differentiator. The differentiator is the hand: minimal fixtures worked from real materials in the studio’s own workshop.
Put to work, the identity is handcraft as design. A studio building in this spirit would keep the making close — in its own workshop, with trusted local partners — choose honest materials, and let restraint do the work, so the object feels made rather than manufactured. The lesson Allied Maker teaches is that material handcraft plus a clear aesthetic can build a brand: real materials, an own workshop, and a quiet design language give it an identity mass production can’t. The craft is the personality, and the workshop is the substance.
For designers and brand-builders, Allied Maker offers a clear takeaway: let material handcraft carry the object. The lessons: make it by hand; honour the materials; keep it quiet; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: Allied Maker was founded in 2012, not 2014, and while it is largely handmade in its own Long Island workshop, it also works with local US partner makers, so “everything under one roof” would overstate it — the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. And it is a reminder that made-where honesty can be a genuine boast: Allied Maker is made in the USA, largely in its own workshop, and that is worth stating plainly. Allied Maker made the handmade light the brand — proof that material handcraft can be the difference.
