Kodanska Brand Guidelines
Colourful imperfection.

Two constants: a cobalt-and-coral palette and a warm friendly register. Abstract homage — not a Kodanska vessel or wordmark.
Colourful imperfection
Kodanska makes colourful, imperfect mouth-blown glass — Danish design, Czech craft.
Kodanska is a lesson in colourful imperfection as the signature. A Copenhagen design brand, it makes playful, colourful, deliberately imperfect mouth-blown glass tableware — a Danish design restraint warmed by the irregularity of the hand. Even the collection names embrace it: one is called “I Am Not Perfect.”
Its identity is colourful imperfection. Kodanska’s bright, hand-blown tumblers, jugs and vases — no two quite alike — are the work it is known for. Imperfection, made joyful. A brand that designs in colour and lets the hand show.
(Honest notes, so the story stays precise, because the making is the point. Kodanska is an independent, founder-led Danish brand, run by its designer and CEO Marie Graff, and it traces to her 2013 move from Denmark to Prague; the name means “Copenhagen Street” in Czech, after the Prague street where the family lived. The crucial caveat: it is designed in Denmark but the glass is mouth-blown in the Czech Republic, at a Prague-area glassworks — not in Denmark — so we describe it as Danish-designed and Czech-blown, and we do not upgrade its “handcrafted in Europe” line into “made in Denmark.” On sustainability, it speaks of a “Design Without Waste” ethos, turning production offcuts into new designs — but it does not claim its glass is recycled material, so we describe a waste-reducing philosophy rather than “recycled glass.” Its collaboration with Villa Copenhagen and its collection names, such as Flow and “I Am Not Perfect,” are its IP, described but never reproduced, and there is no official brand hex — these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
Kodanska lives in a cobalt-and-coral palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Kodanska’s identity is colourful, playful and warm — a cobalt, an ink, a coral, a sun, and a chalk. The palette leans cobalt and coral: the register of bright, hand-blown colour. It signals joy and the hand over polish. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these values are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is a cobalt-and-coral palette signals a joyful, imperfect identity. Kodanska’s world is a colourful, playful, warm object. For designers, it is a reminder that a bright, happy palette can carry a brand built on colourful, imperfect glass — tones that make irregularity feel joyful rather than flawed. Because bright colours can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the loud colour live in the discs, palette and band. The takeaways: design in colour; embrace imperfection; be honest about the making; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a warm friendly — bright, approachable, playful.
Kodanska’s identity carries a bright, approachable, playful spirit — a joyful object, not a serious one. A warm friendly sans captures the mood: rounded, cheerful and modern, the register of colourful, hand-blown glass. Set in a cobalt-and-coral palette, the warm friendly feels bright and approachable — exactly the personality Kodanska carries. It is playful rather than austere, mirroring a colourful, imperfect piece. (Kodanska’s real vessels, collections and wordmark are things we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a warm-friendly spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: bright, approachable and playful.

Colourful imperfection as signature
Kodanska stands for colourful imperfection.
Kodanska is a lesson in making colourful imperfection the signature. A cobalt-and-coral palette, a warm friendly and bright, hand-blown glass make joyful imperfection the whole brand — colourful, playful and warm. The imperfection is the differentiator. The differentiator is embracing the irregular and the colourful together — hand-blown glass where variation is joy, not a defect, named plainly “I Am Not Perfect.”
Put to work, the identity is imperfection as design. A brand building in this spirit would design in colour and let the hand show, being honest about where and how the glass is made, so the customer buys into joy and craft rather than machine perfection. The lesson Kodanska teaches is that colourful imperfection plus honest making can build a brand: the colour gives it warmth, and the hand-blown irregularity gives it character — as long as the Danish-designed, Czech-blown story is told straight. The imperfection is the personality, and the hand is the proof.
For designers and brand-builders, Kodanska offers a clear takeaway: design in colour, and be honest about the making. The lessons: embrace imperfection; keep the palette bright; tell the true made-where story; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: Kodanska is an independent Danish brand (Marie Graff, from around 2013) whose glass is designed in Denmark and mouth-blown in the Czech Republic — so it is not “made in Denmark,” its ethos is waste-reduction rather than recycled material, and its collections are described but never reproduced, with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. Kodanska made colourful imperfection the brand — proof that joyful irregularity can be the difference.
