Not just another nut butter

NuttZo blends seven nuts and seeds.

NuttZo is a lesson in a product born from need. Founded in 2008 in San Diego, California by Danielle LiVolsi, it began after she adopted her sons and, wanting the most nutrient-dense, plant-based protein for two picky eaters, found only peanut and almond butters on the shelf — so she blended her own from many nuts and seeds.

The result is NuttZo’s signature: a multi-nut-and-seed butter. Its Power Fuel blend is peanut-free (cashews, almonds, brazil nuts, hazelnuts, and flax, chia and pumpkin seeds), while Peanut Pro includes peanuts and sunflower seeds — two different “seven nuts and seeds” recipes. It is organic, no-added-sugar and palm-oil-free, and every purchase supports Project Left Behind, a charity for orphaned and underprivileged children in Peru.

(Honest notes: use “Danielle LiVolsi” (the form the brand uses); the sons were nutrient-deficient/picky eaters — we don’t say “arrived malnourished,” which is stronger than the company’s language; Power Fuel and Peanut Pro are different blends (Power Fuel has no peanuts); the charity specifically supports children in Peru, not a generic child-hunger cause; and no official brand hex is published.)

Colour

NuttZo lives in an energetic, natural palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.

NuttZo’s identity is energetic, natural and bold — a fuel orange, a seed green, a nut brown, a cream, and a berry. The palette reads like a “fuel” product made of many nuts and seeds: an energetic orange, a seed green, warm nut browns, with colour-coding by variety. It signals an active, nutrient-dense brand rather than a plain single-nut spread. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.

The lesson is energetic, natural colour reads as active fuel. NuttZo’s world is bold and healthy. For designers, it is a reminder that a warm, energetic palette with per-variety colour-coding can signal a nutrient-dense, active product, matching a brand literally named for a medley of nuts and seeds. The takeaways: build on energetic, natural tones; colour-code by variety (Power Fuel, Peanut Pro); and treat any single hex as unofficial — using the nut brown for small text so the fuel orange stays punchy.

Typography

The wordmark spirit is a bold sans — energetic and modern.

NuttZo’s identity carries a bold, energetic, modern spirit — a “NuttZo” wordmark with its signature internal capital “Z.” A bold sans captures the mood: it is punchy and confident, the register of a brand whose line is “Live Life Like You Mean It!” Set against an energetic, natural palette, the bold sans feels active and modern — exactly the nutrient-dense, “fuel” personality NuttZo carries. It is bold rather than quiet, mirroring a product packed with nuts and seeds. (NuttZo’s real wordmark is a trademark we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not something we assert.) Because the specific mark is not ours to use, the honest description is “a bold-sans spirit,” not the NuttZo logo. The type behaves like the brand: bold, energetic and modern.

A blend as the difference

NuttZo stands for many nuts and seeds.

NuttZo is a lesson in redefining a product from a real need. It did not make another peanut butter; it created a multi-nut-and-seed category — a nutrient-dense blend of seven nuts and seeds — born from a mother’s search for the best food for her kids, and tied to a genuine charitable cause. The blend itself is the differentiator, and the mission gives it meaning. The differentiator is the recipe with a purpose behind it.

For designers and brand-builders, NuttZo offers a clear takeaway: an energetic identity should match a bold, functional product. The lessons: let a distinctive product (seven nuts and seeds) drive the identity; use energetic, natural colour and a bold wordmark; and let a real founding story and cause add meaning. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: NuttZo was founded in 2008 by Danielle LiVolsi, its Power Fuel and Peanut Pro are different blends, and it supports children in Peru through Project Left Behind — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. NuttZo blended the category — proof that the product itself can be the difference.
