PAIKKA Brand Guidelines
The recovery gear.

Two constants: a functional-Nordic palette and a functional sans register. Abstract homage — not the PAIKKA gear or wordmark.
The recovery gear
PAIKKA makes dog gear that does something.
PAIKKA is a lesson in function-first Nordic design as the identity. A Finnish brand founded in 2019 in Helsinki, it made its name pairing genuine function — cooling, recovery, visibility — with muted, minimalist design.
Its identity is the recovery gear. PAIKKA’s self-cooling mats, far-infrared “Recovery” pieces and reflective “Visibility” outerwear are the objects it is known for — gear that does something, wrapped in restrained Nordic looks. Function, quietly designed. Performance without the loud sportswear graphics.
(Honest notes: PAIKKA (Finnish for “place”) is a Finnish design dog-gear brand founded in 2019 in Helsinki (PAIKKA International Oy). Its signature is functional gear — self-cooling mats, far-infrared “Recovery” pieces and reflective “Visibility” outerwear — pairing genuine function with muted, minimalist Nordic design. On the founder, the name Tea Kainu appears in secondary sources; the company frames itself as a team of experts in fashion, design, dog sports and physiotherapy, so we treat the individual attribution cautiously. On production, it is designed in Finland but its manufacturing country isn’t disclosed (made through apparel-industry partners), so we don’t claim one. It is independent and privately held. There’s no official brand hex, and we reproduce no gear or reflective pattern — these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
PAIKKA lives in a functional-Nordic palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
PAIKKA’s identity is functional, muted and Nordic — a teal green, an ink, a signal, a slate, and a chalk. The palette leans functional Nordic — the register of restrained design that hides real function (cooling, reflectivity). It signals performance and calm rather than novelty. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a functional-Nordic palette signals quiet performance. PAIKKA’s world is a functional, muted object. For designers, it is a reminder that performance gear needn’t look like loud sportswear — that real function (a cooling mat, a reflective coat) can be delivered in restrained, home-friendly design — and that a muted palette with one signal accent carries that idea. Because a teal green can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: deliver real function; keep it muted; add one signal; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a functional sans — clean, technical, calm.
PAIKKA’s identity carries a clean, technical, calm spirit — a functional, muted object. A neutral grotesque captures the mood: it is precise and unfussy, the register of quiet performance. Set in a functional-Nordic palette, the functional sans feels clean and technical — exactly the personality PAIKKA carries. It is calm rather than loud, mirroring gear that hides its function. (PAIKKA’s real gear and wordmark are works we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a functional sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: clean, technical and calm.

Function-first Nordic design as identity
PAIKKA stands for the recovery gear.
PAIKKA is a lesson in making quiet function the identity. A functional-Nordic palette, a functional sans and gear that does something make performance-plus-restraint the whole brand — functional, muted, calm. The function is the differentiator. The differentiator is real, testable benefits — cooling, recovery, visibility — delivered in muted, home-friendly design.
Put to work, the identity is performance without the shout. A designer building in this spirit would engineer a genuine function into a product and then hide it inside restrained design, so the object performs without looking like loud technical sportswear. The lesson PAIKKA teaches is that function and calm design can coexist: a cooling mat or a reflective coat can be both useful and quiet enough for a designed home, and a muted, Nordic design language keeps that dual promise consistent.
For designers and brand-builders, PAIKKA offers a clear takeaway: hide real function inside calm design. The lessons: deliver real function; keep it muted; add one signal; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate — and to hedge what isn’t firm: it was founded in 2019 in Helsinki, and while the founder is reported as Tea Kainu, the company frames itself as a team of experts, so we treat the name cautiously — the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. And it is a reminder that made-where honesty means admitting the unknown: because PAIKKA names no manufacturing country, we say it’s designed in Finland and leave production unstated. It is a reminder, too, that function is a design value, not just a spec: cooling and reflectivity are the point, and presenting them calmly is what makes them feel premium. PAIKKA made the recovery gear the brand — proof that quiet function can be the difference.
