SkLO Brand Guidelines
Designed here, blown there.

Two constants: a smoke-and-amber palette and a clean modern register. Abstract homage — not a SkLO piece or wordmark.
Designed here, blown there
SkLO designs modern glass in California and has it hand-blown by Czech masters.
SkLO is a lesson in an honest division of labour as the identity. An American design studio in Northern California, it designs modern glass lighting, objects and tableware and has them hand-blown in the Czech Republic, by Bohemian glass masters — reducing each form to the simplest expression of an idea and celebrating the natural irregularity of hand-blown glass.
Its identity is designed here, blown there. SkLO’s minimal, richly coloured glass pieces — Californian in design, Bohemian in craft — are the work it is known for. Design and craft, from two places. A studio honest about both.
(Honest notes, so the story stays precise, because the geography is the point. SkLO — styled with a capital S, lowercase k and capital L-O, after the Czech word for glass — is an independent studio founded in 2009 by three founders, Paul, Karen and Pavel; we use first names, as their surnames are not firmly documented. The crucial made-where point: it is designed in Northern California’s wine country (the exact town isn’t named, so we don’t guess) and hand-blown in the Czech Republic using traditional Bohemian glassblowing, which independent listings confirm — so we describe it as US-designed and Czech-blown, and never as “American-made.” Its signature is reduction — the simplest expression of an idea — paired with a celebration of hand-blown irregularity and rich Czech colour and clarity, across lighting, objects and tabletop. We found no verified product collaborations, and because “sklo” is a common word we anchor everything to this studio. Its pieces and wordmark are its IP, and there is no official brand hex — these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
SkLO lives in a smoke-and-amber palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
SkLO’s identity is modern, clear and warm — a smoke, an ink, an amber, a graphite, and an ash. The palette leans smoke and amber: the register of clear and richly coloured Bohemian glass. It signals reduction and material richness over decoration. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these values are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is a smoke-and-amber palette signals a modern glass identity. SkLO’s world is a modern, clear, warm object. For designers, it is a reminder that a restrained palette with a warm glass accent can carry a brand about reduced form and rich hand-blown colour. Because a mid smoke can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: reduce the form; honour the craft; tell the true geography; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a clean modern — reduced, warm, considered.
SkLO’s identity carries a reduced, warm, considered spirit — a modern object, not an ornate one. A clean modern sans captures the mood: simple, confident and current, the register of reduced glass design. Set in a smoke-and-amber palette, the clean modern feels reduced and warm — exactly the personality SkLO carries. It is considered rather than decorative, mirroring a simple, hand-blown form. (SkLO’s real pieces and wordmark are things we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a clean-modern spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: reduced, warm and considered.

An honest division of labour as identity
SkLO stands for designed here, blown there.
SkLO is a lesson in making an honest geography the identity. A smoke-and-amber palette, a clean modern and reduced, hand-blown pieces make a two-place story the whole brand — Californian design, Bohemian craft. The division of labour is the differentiator. The differentiator is a genuine, honestly-told split — American design intelligence executed by Czech glass masters — where each side is credited plainly.
Put to work, the identity is honesty as design. A studio building in this spirit would design with a clear point of view and have it made where the craft genuinely lives, saying so, so the customer buys into both the design and its true provenance. The lesson SkLO teaches is that a clear design idea plus real craft can build a brand: the reduced design gives it a voice, and the Bohemian blowing gives it quality — as long as the geography is told straight. The design is the personality, and the honest making is the proof.
For designers and brand-builders, SkLO offers a clear takeaway: design here, make where the craft is, and say so. The lessons: reduce the form; honour the craft; tell the true geography; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: SkLO is an independent Northern California studio from 2009, designing in California and hand-blowing in the Czech Republic — so it is US-designed and Czech-blown, never “American-made,” and its pieces are described but never reproduced, with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. SkLO made an honest geography the brand — proof that a two-place story can be the difference.
