Awake NY Brand Guidelines

Very New York
Awake NY turns New York identity into a brand.
Awake NY is a lesson in city identity as a brand. Founded in 2012 by Angelo Baque — a Queens-raised former Supreme brand director — the independent New York label channels a very specific New York attitude: colourful, pop-culture-literate, and rooted in the city’s neighbourhoods.
Its brand identity is bold, colourful and NYC-coded — pop-culture graphics, print-heavy jerseys, workwear-inspired pieces, and a signature script wordmark. Its ethos leans into representation and community, with work alongside institutions like the Queens Museum.
(Honest notes: Awake NY is Baque’s own independent venture, not a Supreme sub-label — though he was Supreme’s brand director. Its identity centres on a script wordmark; we describe it rather than reproduce it. There’s no official brand hex, so the colours here are an unofficial interpretation.)
Colour
Awake NY lives in a bold, NYC-coded palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Awake NY’s identity is bold, colourful and NYC-coded — a red, a royal blue, a green, an ink, and a paper. The palette leans on a bold red, royal blue and green — the register of city sport, subway colour and pop culture. It signals New York attitude, community and confidence rather than quiet minimalism. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is bold, city colour signals New York identity. Awake NY’s world is the five boroughs. For designers, it is a reminder that a bold red, royal blue and green read as confident and NYC-coded — right for a brand built on city pride and pop culture. The takeaways: use bold city colour; root it in a real place; and treat any single hex as unofficial — using ink for small text so the colour stays bold.
Typography
The register is a script wordmark — bold and personal.
Awake NY’s identity carries a bold, personal, city spirit — pop culture and New York pride. A confident script captures the mood: it is personal and hand-signed, the register of a city signature and a jersey chainstitch. Set in a bold NYC palette, the script feels bold and personal — exactly the personality Awake NY carries. It is expressive rather than corporate, mirroring a signed wordmark. (Awake NY’s real wordmark is a trademark we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact brand lettering is not ours to use.) Because the mark is not ours to use, the honest description is “a script wordmark spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: bold, personal and NYC-coded.

City as identity
Awake NY stands for New York pride.
Awake NY is a lesson in making a city the identity. A bold, NYC-coded palette, pop-culture graphics and a community ethos make New York pride the whole brand — colourful, rooted, confident. The city is the differentiator. The differentiator is a bold, NYC-coded, community-driven identity.
For designers and brand-builders, Awake NY offers a clear takeaway: a real place can be a brand. The lessons: root the brand in a specific city and community; use bold, legible colour; and give back (institutions, youth work). It is also a reminder to stay accurate: it’s Baque’s independent venture (not a Supreme sub-label), the identity is a script wordmark (not an oval logo), and the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. Awake NY made a city the brand — proof that place can be the difference.
