DedCool Brand Guidelines
Making life smell really good.

Two constants: a neutral, muted palette and a clean sans wordmark over a numbered system. Abstract homage — not the DedCool wordmark or bottle.
Clean, gender-free, numbered
DedCool made clean fragrance feel like a system.
DedCool is a lesson in systematising a category. Founded in 2016 in Los Angeles by Carina Chaz (as a college student, not — as often written — a teenager), it built a gender-free, vegan, “clean”/non-toxic fragrance brand around a tidy numbered-and-named system: Fragrance 01 “Taunt” (the flagship), 03 “Blonde,” 05 “Spring.” Its viral signature is the “Milk” family — soft, musky skin-scents (Milk, then the viral Xtra Milk) — plus a clever layering crossover: “Dedtergent,” a laundry detergent that doubles as fragrance.
The design matches the ethos: minimalist, clean and clinical, in muted neutrals (creams, whites, blacks) with a bold “DedCool” wordmark, sold DTC and at Sephora under its “Making life smell really good” / “genderless, vegan, non-toxic” tagline.
(Honest notes: DedCool is founder-led but not purely bootstrapped — Sandbridge Capital took a minority stake from 2022 and increased it in 2025 (the brand is profitable, ~$25–30 million in net sales). And in June 2026 a law firm opened an investigation into whether its “clean” marketing could mislead consumers — an inquiry, not a court finding, and part of a broader industry debate over “clean” claims. No official brand hex is published.)

DedCool’s identity is clean, muted and neutral — a taupe, a black, a sand, a cream, and an ink. The palette is a set of soft, muted neutrals (creams, sand, taupe) grounded by a black wordmark — the “clean girl,” minimalist register. It signals gender-free, clinical, modern clean-beauty rather than colour or opulence. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is muted neutrals plus a numbered system read as clean and modern. DedCool’s world is a neutral, well-ordered shelf. For designers, it is a reminder that a restrained neutral palette, a clean sans and a numbered-and-named product system make a brand feel calm, systematic and gender-free — the opposite of loud, gendered perfume marketing. The takeaways: keep the palette muted and neutral; use a numbered system for order; and treat any single hex as unofficial — using a deep taupe for small text so the neutrals stay clean.
Typography
The wordmark spirit is a clean sans — modern and neutral.
DedCool’s identity carries a clean, modern, neutral spirit — a bold “DedCool” wordmark and a numbered system over muted neutrals. A clean, friendly sans captures the mood: it is contemporary and unfussy, the register of a gender-free clean-beauty brand. Set against muted neutrals, the sans feels modern and calm — exactly the clean, systematic personality DedCool carries. It is neutral rather than decorative, mirroring a “clean girl” minimalism. (DedCool’s real wordmark and bottles are trademarks and trade dress we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not published, so we don’t assert it.) Because the specific mark is not ours to use, the honest description is “a clean sans spirit,” not the DedCool logo. The type behaves like the brand: clean, modern and neutral.

Order as a look
DedCool stands for clean, gender-free scent.
DedCool is a lesson in making order the aesthetic. A numbered-and-named system, muted neutrals and a clean sans turn fragrance into something calm, modern and gender-free — and the viral “Milk” skin-scents plus the “Dedtergent” layering crossover keep it playful. The restraint and the system are the differentiator. The differentiator is a clean, gender-free, systematic identity.
For designers and brand-builders, DedCool offers a clear takeaway: a system and a neutral palette can define a modern brand. The lessons: number and name a range for order; keep the palette muted and gender-free; and add one playful, ownable idea (the milky skin-scent, the fragrance-detergent). It is also a reminder to stay accurate: DedCool has Sandbridge minority backing (since 2022), and a 2026 investigation into its “clean” marketing is an inquiry, not a finding — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. DedCool made order a look — proof that a clean system can be the difference.
