Pentik Brand Guidelines
The light of Lapland.

Two constants: an arctic-blue-and-berry palette and a Nordic contemporary register. Abstract homage — not a Pentik glaze, motif or wordmark.
The light of Lapland
Pentik designs and makes ceramics drawn from the nature and light of Finnish Lapland.
Pentik is a lesson in a landscape as the identity. A Finnish house from Posio, in Finnish Lapland, it designs and makes ceramics drawn from northern nature and Arctic light — distinctive glazes and nature-and-floral motifs, in seasonal collections refreshed through the year, made at its own factory in the far north. A landscape, made a glaze.
Its identity is the light of Lapland. Pentik’s nature-led glazes and seasonal tableware are the work it is known for. Nature, made a table. A house shaped by the north.
(Honest notes, so the story stays precise. Pentik was founded in 1971 in Posio by Anu Pentik (Anu Pentikäinen) and her husband Topi Pentikäinen, beginning as a ceramics-and-leather workshop; it is a family company, owned by the founders’ children since 2004, with a non-family CEO since 2019 and Anu Pentik still its founder and artistic director. Its ceramics are made at its own factory in Posio, which the brand describes as the world’s northernmost — a claim we attribute rather than assert. Importantly, it is both a design-led ceramics maker and a sizeable own-brand retail chain of around eighty stores, so we frame it as a vertically integrated design company, not a boutique studio. One heritage caution: Pentik’s world is “Finnish Lapland,” drawn from northern nature — not Sámi. We never frame it as Sámi or reproduce any Sámi motif, which is culturally protected. Its glazes, motifs and wordmark are its IP, and there is no official brand hex — these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
Pentik lives in an arctic-blue-and-berry palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Pentik’s identity is natural, seasonal and northern — an arctic blue, an ink, a berry, a birch gold, and a snow. The palette leans arctic blue and berry: the register of Lapland nature, light and northern flora. It signals landscape and season over trend. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these values are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is an arctic-blue-and-berry palette signals a nature-led identity. Pentik’s world is a natural, seasonal, northern object. For designers, it is a reminder that a palette drawn from a landscape — arctic blue, berry, birch — can carry a brand built on nature. Because a mid berry can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the discs, palette and band. The takeaways: draw from a landscape; move with the seasons; make your own glazes; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a Nordic contemporary — clean, natural, considered.
Pentik’s identity carries a clean, natural, considered spirit — a northern object, not a fussy one. A Nordic contemporary sans captures the mood: modern, clear and quietly warm, the register of nature-led Scandinavian ceramics. Set in an arctic-blue-and-berry palette, the Nordic contemporary feels clean and natural — exactly the personality Pentik carries. It is considered rather than loud, mirroring seasonal, glaze-rich tableware. (Pentik’s real glazes, motifs and wordmark are things we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a Nordic-contemporary spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: clean, natural and considered.

A landscape as identity
Pentik stands for the light of Lapland.
Pentik is a lesson in making a landscape the identity. An arctic-blue-and-berry palette, a Nordic contemporary and nature-led, seasonal ceramics make Finnish Lapland the whole brand — natural, seasonal and northern. The landscape is the differentiator. The differentiator is a genuine sense of place — glazes and motifs drawn from northern nature and light, made at a factory in the far north the brand has never left.
Put to work, the identity is a landscape as design. A house building in this spirit would root its whole aesthetic in a real place and let the seasons drive the work, keeping the making close to home, so the customer buys into a landscape and a rhythm rather than a trend. The lesson Pentik teaches is that a place plus real making can build a brand: the north gives it a world, and the own factory gives it substance. The landscape is the personality, and the making is the proof.
For designers and brand-builders, Pentik offers a clear takeaway: root the brand in a landscape. The lessons: draw from a real place; move with the seasons; make it yourself; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: Pentik was founded in 1971 in Posio by Anu Pentik, is a family company owned by the founders’ children, makes its ceramics at its own Posio factory, and is both a maker and an ~80-store retail chain — and its world is Finnish Lapland nature, never framed as Sámi, with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. Pentik made the light of Lapland the brand — proof that a landscape can be the difference.
