Viberg Brand Guidelines
The Service Boot.

Two constants: a cordovan-and-leather palette and a heritage serif register. Abstract homage — not the Viberg footwear.
The Service Boot
Viberg turned a work boot into a heritage-craft icon.
Viberg is a lesson in a model as identity. A Canadian bootmaker since 1931 — founded by Edwin Viberg and still family-run, now into its fifth generation, based in Victoria, British Columbia — it built its reputation on hand-made heritage boots.
Its identity is the Service Boot. Originally created by Edwin Viberg for farm and prairie labourers, it is built in stitchdown construction — the signature — with a fully resoleable, recraftable make and premium leathers (shell cordovan, Horween Chromexcel). The numbers you’ll hear — 2030, 2040, 1035, 310 — are the lasts the Service Boot is built on, not style names. Once a logger’s work boot, it is reborn as a cult heavyweight of the heritage-footwear world.
(Honest notes: the family now describes itself as five generations, so we don’t pin an older count. Viberg is renowned for stitchdown, but it isn’t all stitchdown — Goodyear-welted models exist too. Its “first to market” / registered trade-dress (2020) claim is Viberg’s own, so we attribute it. There’s no official brand hex, so these tones are an unofficial interpretation.)
Colour
Viberg lives in a cordovan-and-leather palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Viberg’s identity is crafted, heritage and rich — an ink, a cordovan, a natural leather, a slate, and a cream. The palette pairs a shell cordovan with a natural leather — the register of a premium heritage boot. It signals craft and material rather than fashion. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a shell cordovan with a natural leather signals a premium heritage boot. Viberg’s world is a hand-made stitchdown boot. For designers, it is a reminder that a rich, leather-derived palette reads as crafted and valuable — right for a heritage bootmaker. The takeaways: source the palette from the leather (cordovan, natural); keep it rich and warm; let the model and construction lead (the Service Boot, stitchdown); and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a heritage serif — crafted, characterful, considered.
Viberg’s identity carries a crafted, characterful, considered spirit — a hand-made boot and rich leathers. A heritage serif captures the mood: it is warm and characterful, the register of an old workshop. Set in a cordovan-and-leather palette, the heritage serif feels crafted and characterful — exactly the personality Viberg carries. It is considered rather than loud, mirroring a stitchdown boot. (Viberg’s real footwear is work we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a heritage serif spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: crafted, characterful and considered.

A model as identity
Viberg stands for one boot, built by hand.
Viberg is a lesson in making a model the identity. A cordovan-and-leather palette, a heritage serif and a stitchdown Service Boot make one model the whole brand — crafted, characterful, cult. The model is the differentiator. The differentiator is a Service-Boot, stitchdown-craft identity.
For designers and brand-builders, Viberg offers a clear takeaway: perfect one model and build it by hand. The lessons: make one icon (the Service Boot); commit to a construction (stitchdown); offer it across lasts (2030, 2040); and be honest about the claims and the range. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: it’s five generations, not all stitchdown, and the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. Viberg made a model the brand — proof that one boot can be the difference.
