Bestard Brand Guidelines
Made in Mallorca.

Two constants: a terracotta-and-olive palette and a Mediterranean serif register. Abstract homage — not the Bestard footwear.
Made in Mallorca
Bestard still makes its mountaineering boots in its own factory.
Bestard is a lesson in making as identity. Founded in 1940 in Lloseta, Mallorca — at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana — it is a family-owned company, run across generations from the founder’s grandfather. It began with bespoke men’s footwear and specialised in mountain boots in the 1970s.
Its identity is that it genuinely still makes its premium mountaineering, trekking and hunting boots in its own Mallorca factory — while nearly all its European rivals offshored. That “continue working here, in our own factory” decision is the real, defensible hook, expressed in the tagline “by mountaineers, for mountaineers.” The range runs from Himalayan-grade expedition double boots down to everyday footwear, and the lines are named plainly by function — Alta Montaña (high mountain), Trekking, Senderismo, and notably Caza (hunting) and Uniforme (professional/uniform).
(Honest notes: Bestard is family-owned and independent; we don’t name the founding generation beyond “the founder’s grandfather.” The made-in-Mallorca hook is genuine, though its formal policy frames the guarantee as within the EU, so we don’t claim every sub-process is Mallorcan. We don’t specify a welt type or name Everest/the poles (only “expedition-grade”), and there’s no official brand hex, so these tones are an unofficial interpretation.)
Colour
Bestard lives in a terracotta-and-olive palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Bestard’s identity is crafted, Mediterranean and grounded — an ink, a terracotta, an olive, a stone, and a cream. The palette pairs a Mallorcan terracotta with a mountain olive — the register of a Mediterranean mountain workshop. It signals craft and the Tramuntana rather than fashion. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a Mallorcan terracotta with a mountain olive signals a Mediterranean bootmaker. Bestard’s world is a Mallorca factory at the foot of a mountain range. For designers, it is a reminder that a warm, earthy palette reads as crafted and rooted — right for a made-in-house brand. The takeaways: source the palette from the place (terracotta, olive, stone); keep it warm and grounded; let the making lead (own factory); and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a Mediterranean serif — crafted, warm, considered.
Bestard’s identity carries a crafted, warm, considered spirit — a Mallorca factory and mountaineering heritage. A Mediterranean serif captures the mood: it is elegant and warm, the register of a southern craft house. Set in a terracotta-and-olive palette, the Mediterranean serif feels crafted and warm — exactly the personality Bestard carries. It is considered rather than loud, mirroring a hand-assembled boot. (Bestard’s real footwear is work we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a Mediterranean serif spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: crafted, warm and considered.

Making as identity
Bestard stands for a boot still made at home.
Bestard is a lesson in making the making the identity. A terracotta-and-olive palette, a Mediterranean serif and a made-in-Mallorca boot make in-house craft the whole brand — crafted, rooted, honest. The making is the differentiator. The differentiator is a made-in-Mallorca identity.
For designers and brand-builders, Bestard offers a clear takeaway: keep the making at home and say so. The lessons: hold onto the factory (own Mallorca production); build for the extreme (expedition-grade boots); name plainly by function (Alta Montaña, Caza); and stay honest about the claim. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: it’s family-owned, the guarantee is framed EU-wide, and the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. Bestard made the making the brand — proof that where and how it’s made can be the difference.
