Wincent Brand Guidelines
The Swedish drumstick.
Aa
Two constants: a hickory-brown palette and a Nordic-sans register. Abstract homage — not a Wincent drumstick or mark.
The Swedish drumstick
Wincent is the Swedish drumstick brand founded by Dan Nylén in 1992, shaping American hickory into drumsticks in Sweden under a “Born in Sweden” design identity.
Wincent is the round’s drumstick maker, and its honesty is in where the wood comes from. From Sweden, Wincent makes drumsticks — plus brushes, rods and mallets — under the line “Born in Sweden, Played Worldwide.” Its answer to how a maker becomes a name is a Nordic design identity applied to an American material: take hickory, shape it the Swedish way, and build a distinctly Swedish drumstick brand in a category dominated by American and Japanese makers. A Swedish drumstick, from American wood.
Its identity is the Swedish drumstick. Wincent’s Swedish design identity, its hickory sticks and its Nordic shaping are the work it is known for. A drumstick, born in Sweden. A design identity on an American material.
(Honest notes, so the story stays precise. Wincent — Wincent Drumsticks AB — was founded in 1992 by Dan Nylén; it started in Robertsfors, in northern Sweden, and is today based in Gränna, in the south, so we say “founded 1992 in Sweden,” not in Gränna. Its live site, wincentdrumsticks.com, is currently a product showcase — it states online purchasing is “coming soon,” so we present it as an active brand sold through retailers, not a live webshop. On where it is made — the honest heart of this entry — “Born in Sweden” is a design and finishing identity, not a wood-origin claim: hickory is an American wood (reported as Kentucky-sourced) that does not grow in Sweden, and the sticks are shaped and finished in Sweden — so we say the wood is American and the shaping is Swedish, and we do not write “made in Sweden” unqualified. The Kentucky-hickory and stone-ground-shaping details come from retailer product copy, which we attribute; the core fact — American wood, Swedish finishing — is safe regardless. On ownership, it is an independent Swedish company as presented, which we could not registry-verify. Its weight- and pitch-matched pairs and its artist roster we attribute as reported. Its name, wordmark and the “Born in Sweden” lockup are IP, described but never reproduced, and there is no official brand hex; these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
Wincent lives in a hickory-brown palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Wincent’s identity is Nordic, designed and honest — a hickory brown, an ink, a grain, a deep hickory, and a paper. The palette leans hickory brown and grain: the register of a hickory drumstick and its wood grain. It signals a Nordic design identity on a natural material. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these values are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party colours.
The lesson is a hickory-brown palette signals a Swedish-designed, honestly-sourced identity. Wincent’s world is a Nordic, wooden, designed object. For designers, it is a reminder that a hickory brown and a soft grain can carry a brand built on shaping an imported wood — the warm brown of hickory and the neutral of its grain. Because these tones can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: build a design identity; be honest that the wood is imported; shape it at home; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a Nordic sans — clean, plain, designed.
Wincent’s identity carries a clean, plain, designed spirit — a Nordic drumstick brand, not a heritage timber house. A Nordic sans captures the mood: even, understated and modern, the register of a Swedish design identity. Set in a hickory-brown palette, the Nordic sans feels clean and designed — exactly the personality Wincent carries. It is a design identity on an imported material rather than a marketing wall, mirroring a hickory stick. (Wincent’s real logo and the “Born in Sweden” lockup are things we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a Nordic-sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: clean, plain and designed.

The parts players choose
Wincent stands for the Swedish-designed drumstick of American wood.
Wincent is a lesson in how a design identity and an honest source can be an identity. A hickory-brown palette, a Nordic sans and a hickory drumstick make one thing — the Swedish drumstick — the whole identity: Nordic, designed and honest. The Swedish design identity is the differentiator, and the honestly-sourced American wood is the meaning. The point is a brand that built a distinctly Swedish drumstick in a category ruled by American and Japanese makers — and that is honest that the hickory itself is American.
Put to work, the identity is a design identity, honestly sourced, as design. A brand in this spirit would build a design identity, shape the wood at home, and be candid about where the wood comes from — a Swedish design and finishing, American Kentucky hickory. A brand learning from it would see that a design identity plus an honest source is a durable identity — that a Swedish-designed drumstick made from American wood is more credible when it says so — and that being precise, founded 1992 by Dan Nylén, American hickory shaped and finished in Sweden, keeps the story honest. Wincent carries the round’s where-made honesty at its subtlest: “Born in Sweden” is true as a design identity but would be misleading as a wood-origin claim, and the honest move is to say the wood is American and the shaping is Swedish, rather than let a slogan imply a Swedish forest. It sits between the round’s fully-at-home makers and its designed-elsewhere ones — the material from abroad, the making at home. The lesson Wincent teaches is that a design identity can hold an identity: the Nordic shaping gives it character, and the honesty about the American wood keeps it credible. The design is the personality, and the honestly-sourced drumstick is the proof.
For designers and brand-builders, Wincent holds the Sweden pole in the parts players choose: build a design identity, and be honest about the source. The lessons: own a design identity; shape the material at home; say plainly where the raw material comes from; don’t let a slogan overstate origin; and never reproduce a logo or lockup. It is also a reminder to stay precise: Wincent is the Swedish drumstick brand founded by Dan Nylén in 1992, shaping American hickory into drumsticks in Sweden under a “Born in Sweden” design identity — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. Wincent made a design identity the identity — proof that a Swedish-designed drumstick of American wood, honestly told, can be the difference.
