Better Booch Brand Guidelines
Premium kombucha in ornate cans.

Two constants: a jewel-tone palette and a vintage serif. Abstract homage — not the Better Booch wordmark or logo.
Made well, tastes swell
Better Booch made kombucha ornate.
Better Booch is a lesson in premium through design. Founded by married couple Trey and Ashleigh Lockerbie — both former touring musicians — it grew from Los Angeles farmers’ markets. Its origin is personal: Trey began brewing kombucha for his sister Brittany after her cancer diagnosis, and the brand carries her legacy, built on organic botanicals and herbs rather than heavy fruit juice and sugar.
Better Booch is hand-brewed, canned and family-run — an unpasteurised “living brew” from organic teas and botanicals, with a synbiotic (pro- and prebiotic) blend and low sugar. Now brewed at its Ventura, California brewery, it sells nationally through premium retail, with evocative flavours like Golden Pear, Hibiscus Healer and Morning Glory.
(Honest notes: its exact founding year is not publicly documented, so we place it in the mid-2010s; it originated in Los Angeles but is now brewed in Ventura; flavour line-ups rotate (of the commonly-listed names, Golden Pear is a confirmed current flavour); it is family-owned and founder-led; and no official brand hex is published.)
Colour

Better Booch’s identity is ornate, vintage and premium — a jewel teal, a golden pear, a vintage rose, a cream, and a deep aubergine. The look leans on rich, saturated jewel tones, colour-coded per flavour, wrapped in decorative, vintage-apothecary illustration. It signals an elevated, collectible kombucha rather than a flat, minimal can. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is ornate, jewel-tone design reads as premium and distinctive. Better Booch’s world is decorative and rich. For designers, it is a reminder that in a category full of clean, minimal cans, an ornate, vintage-tonic aesthetic in jewel tones can stand out and feel elevated, matching a hand-brewed, craft-premium product. The takeaways: use rich jewel tones coded per flavour; lean into decorative, vintage illustration; and treat any single hex as unofficial — using the deep aubergine for small text so the jewels stay saturated.
Typography
The wordmark spirit is a vintage serif — ornate and elevated.
Better Booch’s identity carries an ornate, vintage, elevated spirit — a “Better Booch” wordmark set in decorative, old-world type on richly illustrated cans. A vintage serif captures the mood: it is elegant and characterful, the register of a brand whose lines are “Made well, tastes swell” and “Gut health for the good life.” Set against jewel tones, the vintage serif feels premium and collectible — exactly the craft-apothecary personality Better Booch carries. It is decorative rather than minimal, mirroring an ornate, heritage-tonic can. (Better Booch’s real wordmark is a trademark we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not something we assert.) Because the specific mark is not ours to use, the honest description is “a vintage serif spirit,” not the Better Booch logo. The type behaves like the brand: ornate, vintage and elevated.

Ornate design as the difference
Better Booch stands for its vintage cans.
Better Booch is a lesson in standing out by dressing up. It did not adopt the clean, minimal look most kombucha cans share; it went ornate and vintage — decorative, apothecary-style illustration in rich jewel tones — so a Better Booch can reads like an elevated, collectible object. Paired with a hand-brewed, low-sugar product and a personal founding story, that design makes premium feel earned. The differentiator is ornament: in a minimal category, decoration is distinction.
For designers and brand-builders, Better Booch offers a clear takeaway: a distinctive, ornate style can be a moat in a minimal category. The lessons: commit to a rich, decorative aesthetic; code jewel tones per flavour; and back the premium look with genuine craft and story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: Better Booch was founded by the Lockerbies, is family-owned, and is now brewed in Ventura — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation, and the founding year undocumented. Better Booch dressed up its cans — proof that ornament can be the difference.
